Las Vegas - James Dobson, founder of the Christian group Focus on the Family and one of the nation's most influential evangelicals, will endorse Ted Cruz for president today, according to sources briefed on the announcement.
It will represent the latest in a series of endorsements for Cruz from prominent conservative leaders, dozens of whom met secretly last week and voted to coalesce their forces behind the Texas senator. The plan, as decided by the Tony Perkins-led group, is to slowly roll out endorsements from prominent conservative leaders individually to create a perception of the "movement" uniting behind Cruz.
Dobson, sources say, has long been an outspoken voice on Cruz's behalf, arguing in previous private gatherings that Marco Rubio was not sufficiently conservative to earn the group's support.
The Trump fans don’t like to admit it but Trump is also leaking voters to Cruz. The Luntz focus group after the last debate said that 11 of them would switch their support after seeing the debate. Most said they would switch from Trump to Cruz with one or two Rubio to Cruz, a Paul to Cruz and a couple that made no sense whatsoever like Fiorina to Chrstie.
Most important was the woman who said she switched because seeing Trump and Cruz side by side drew a clear contrast and Ted Cruz was clearly the one who appeared presidential.
And then there’s Trump’s support of subsidies for wind and ethanol....
The Christian Right has been a catastrophic failure, and is largely responsible for America’s leftward movement since 1988.
Any candidate for national office associating with them has a death wish.
Off topic... unless your topic is Trump-bashing.
of course not you would rather lose and sell out the entire country
either you want hillary or not.....
Ted is clearly my #1 choice. If not Ted, my number two choice is Trump.
About sums it up for me!
as always followers lose.
Great!
“This endorsement can only help”
Help what? Help how?
If you think electing a liberal is anything BUT losing, you’re part of the problem.
Absolutely
I’m all in with Sessions and Cruz.
(Best wishes in your struggle with TDS.)
Why is it a deception? No one is denying or hiding that they intend to endorse Ted. So what is wrong with timing the various announcements for the greatest political effect?
Oh Yuck. Mr. if I don’t get what I want, “I am leaving and going to take as many as I can with me.”
The deception is they’ve said they are creating a perception that these guys are coming on board one by one rather than they’ve already made the decision. Yes, they announced the deception. But to those who don’t follow closely, the perception will be these guys are coming to endorse Cruz one by one when in fact that’s not how it happened.
No, according to the article, they are "creating the perception of momentum". That is not the same thing as creating the perception that they are deciding one by one...
And by the way, the statement about them “creating a perception” is from the author of the article, not from the group...
Same thing. The momentum deception is they are coming to Cruz’s support one by one and over time. There is no momentum. It’s been decided.
