Soldiers returned from the Vietnam War with harrowing tales of survival, but one was especially remarkable. This is the story of James Stockdale and his fellow prisoners at "Hanoi Hilton," who used spy communications to prompt a daring rescue.
TOPICS: Health/Medicine; History; Military/Veterans; Religion
KEYWORDS: pows; stockdale; veterans; vietnam
In addition to the incredible means and scope of communication so many engaged in, I do not think there are many men of their honorable caliber in American today, while the suffering that they chose to endure by no cooperating with the godless enemy makes the degradation of the country (and the military) which they suffered for, and with faith in God, even more tragic!

The Son Tay raid failed because the prisoners had just been moved to another prison.
Anyone have any idea why?

The Son Tay raid failed because the prisoners had just been moved to another prison. Anyone have any idea why? No, but the film says that the prisoners had notified them earlier that they had been moved, but due to a backlog of letters it was not decoded until the day of the raid.

I designed and supervised fabrication of an exhibit on James Stockdale and his family. It can be viewed in the commanders building 200 at the Old San Diego Naval Training Center, now called Liberty Station, in Point Loma, CA.

The Walker Spy Ring gave away the KW-7 codes. The Soviets were reading all our traffic. I personally observed at least two incidents where the Soviet Navy acted on intercepted communications.

Uh, no. It was a professionally designed and fabricated exhibit. Some here might like to see it.
