I just clicked through them all.

I’m not impressed.

Far too many were rather exotic herding breeds that most people never heard of and others were simply “barky” dogs.

That the Beauceron was so far down the list instantly made me suspicious.

What good is yapping if they are not likely to back up the bark?

I’ve never met a Weimeraner who worked like a Dobe or Rott.

Another pointless list from the click bait kings.

The Boerboel & Rhodesian Ridgeback surprised me. Have had to care for both, they are good watch dogs if you do not mind having the intruder eaten.

I personally never turned my back on either of them as I did not trust them a lick.

Maybe if I had raised them from pups it would have been different.

We have a Weim, this is our 3rd. They all have been wonderful guard dogs. Very alert, almost hyper vigilant sometimes. I don’t think anyone would break in if they heard or saw the way they’re charging the window/or door when a stranger arrives. They sound ferocious.

Supposedly they were bred to take down large game, so the potential is there, but I don’t think they’d have the strength of a Rottie or Doberman.

I know the dog would protect us, to the best of it’s ability, just how far that ability goes would be the question. I will say this, for some reason, maybe their coloring, people get spooked by the breed. We’ve noticed
that for years, and that’s at a time when the dog is being
passive just walking on a leash.

The Tervuren and Malinois are different coat variations of the same breed (in Europe and Canada). For some reason, the AKC classifies them separately, but you can have a litter mixed with Tervs, Malanois, Groenendale and Lakenois. All the same breed, but different coats named after the Belgian cities/regions where they found favor. It does make the list suspect....

Just a note, based on the first comment here dismissing its validity.

The list is NOT a ranking, per se. It stated above in OP that it is only listing them in order of AKC popularit; IOW, only pulling them out of the total AKC registration list. Nothing to do with how good they are as guards.
