OUR OPINION: Trump? Worry more about his supporters
The Pariot Ledger (Quincy Mass.) ^ | Dc. 12, 2015 | editorial

Posted Dec. 12, 2015

As profoundly disturbing as Donald Trump is, we are far and away more troubled by the legion of those who support him.
We've seen their posts to Facebook and their Tweets. We've received their email chains and heard their defense of Donald Trump’s horrifying lies, racist, sexist, and culturally and religiously intolerant claims at social gatherings. Enough.

...snip

We understand from a Washington Post/ABC News poll that the majority of Trump's Republican supporters are white, less educated and working class. It’s easy to see a correlation between this poll and a report released last month by two Princeton economists which found that less educated, working class, middle-aged whites were dying at higher rates due to alcoholism, suicide and drug overdoses. Ennui and hopelessness are blamed. Since the Great Recession hit and income inequality exploded, this group has found itself more and more on the margins of society with their collective voice silenced. They’ve lost their jobs, their pensions, their homes. They've lost hope. And Trump has given voice to their rage through hate speechs – and if he becomes president, hateful actions.

I see a lot of pro-Trump comments on my FB page from people. The ones who are anti Trump are the establishment R’s and liberals.

This just show how thin and brittle the Establishment crust really is. Trump flicks it with his pinky and it shatters like glass.

Calling readers stupid will do wonders for sales

I will prepare my own e-mail bash to the Ledger.

There are a lot of Trump supporters in my area and I expect there will be a backlash against this editorial, even from some non-Trump supporters.-Tom

I rest my case....LOL

I suppose I should take my framed degree off the wall. The one I earned back in the day when literacy was actually necessary to acquire a BA.

What was that about “less educated”, out of those who cannot spell “speeches”?

That’s OK. Commies in Russia called WWII the “Great Patriotic War”, which is how it’s known there to this day.

I thought Obama the Great has made life wonderful for everyone. Now, we hear that a whole entire swath of America has permanently lost jobs, money, retirement and hope? I thought he was the great bringer of hope to all. What could possibly have gone wrong?

Maybe they should change the name of their rag from the Patriot Ledger to the Benedict Arnold.

Alright! Class Warfare! Great original thinking by the Upper Class swells at the(lol)”Patriot Ledger!”

They’re a bit miffed at the Working Class drudges getting so uppity don’t you know. These grubby little Trump supporters should learn their place. Anyone for tea and cakes?

Since neither party has “cared” about a large percent of voters for a long time they do have to “worry” about us now.

For now, candidates like Trump (and Sanders) are their biggest concern. That’s probably less worrisome than pitchforks, torches, tar & feathers.

In fairness to the writer if you read the lined article it reads:
They’ve lost hope. And Trump has given voice to their rage through hate speech – and if he becomes president, hateful actions.

Because of all the crazy symbols and otherthings entering into our posts that involve apostrophes etc. I might have screwed up that word.
The original article is linked. -Tom

I know so many obama voters in my life who have lost homes and jobs and can’t find work. But they are so happy that we have homo marriage and legal pot in parts of the country.

So self destructive.

I think the "Trump supporters are an inferior intellectual species" is the necessary narrative to keep the LIVs on the rat plantation. As always the narrative is in conflict with the facts.

Poll: Donald Trump back on top, with Ted Cruz climbing into second

This is a news article from yesterday and buried in it is a very interesting quote they are trying to downplay.

Trump leads among both men and women. He has more than a 20-point lead among non-college graduates (and a smaller lead among those with a college degree).

A more accurate way of phrasing this finding is "Trump leads among both men and women and both non-college and college graduates." They seemed to have left out the some college category.

It is a narrative without a gossamer of support, however that is the nature of the occupation media.
