WASHINGTON â The question of the day is whether Republicans, particularly the Republicans running for president, would support Donald Trump if he were to become the party's nominee. Much as they might hem and haw when they get asked â many insist that it's a moot point since he won't be the nominee â the real answer is simple: Of course they would.
Let's put what's happening right now in context. Periodically, the political press finds a question candidates (and sometimes other politicians as well) are having a difficult time answering, and so they ask it again and again. It's not necessarily a "gotcha" in that it has no answer that won't make the candidate look bad, but its attraction comes from the fact that the reporter knows it's going to make the candidate squirm. That doesn't mean it's not substantively revealing, however. For instance, a couple of months ago all the Republican candidates were asked whether the Iraq War was a mistake, and their answers did tell us something about what they've learned from recent history. Hillary Clinton is often asked how her plans on one topic or another differ from what the Obama administration has done, which puts her in an awkward position but also forces her to be specific about what course she intends to pursue.

If he’s elected, what choice do we have? Not many of us support the present resident of the WH—but he’s still president.
Far preferable to any Democrat. Far preferable to most Republicans. So yeah, I’d be OK.
And when some ‘we told ya so” moments come up, and they will, I’ll enjoy that too....kind of.
Lol. Well the election is still a year away.
Just thought this worth posting.
Good luck in the coming race. :D
Oh it’s worth posting.....heck, looks like now it will come down to Trump Cruz or Rubio....two of whom I’d be okay with and all three would beat Hillary.
Would I vote for Trump? I don't see that happening, if there is a conservative minor party candidate on the ballot.
Would I leave the country if he's elected? Of course not. If I can stay here with a narcissistic d-bag with whom I agree 0% of the time as President, I can stay here with a narcissistic d-bag with whom I agree 30% of the time as President.
Yep. I think I like Trump a bit more than you do, but I fear it will come back to be more than "kind of", more like it may bite us in the ass hard.
I like what he's done and is doing to the race, I just have this slight misgiving I can't overcome (yet).
If he wins the nomination, which I think likely, I will temporarily throw my misgivings to the wind and support him 100%.
But GOPe does not want "policy riches," because the policy riches, in part, consist in disrupting the personal riches delivered by the policy riches coming from the Democrats that would continue under ¡Jellery
Rubio is a non starter for me.I don’t trust him
Most Democrats would hold their criticism of Joseph Stalin if he ran for US President.
, I can stay here with a narcissistic d-bag with whom I agree 30% of the time as President.

I think you’d better research “Narcissistic.” You’ll find such people NEVER think of anyone but themselves. it is absolutely impossible for them to do so. Donald Trump is far from being narcissistic because he VERY OFTEN thinks and ACTS for others. He has helped people innumerable times, but does not go out blathering about it. Look at the real man and not the label which has been plastered on him by the media and political pundits, egged on by the RINOs who are scared to death their carefully constructed Pork barrel is about to be upturned. You can start with the New York Memorial to the Vietnam Vets, built by Donald Trump when NOBODY else would recognize their sacrifice. That alone PROVES he is not a “narcissistic d-bag.” There are many other examples you should recognize if you weren’t listening to the real scum bags trying to sling enough mud to make something stick.
Is the next debate going to be down to 3 people or is the GOP going to continue to dilute the mix with inflated 4% pollers?
Pro amnesty = no go.
Rubio is a non starter for me.I donât trust him

You have good reason. He’s a sellout to the RINO/Lib gang of 8. NOTHING would convince me to vote for him, period!
I think trumpees are naive to think he will do everything he says especially with the disrespect he shows belittling all who disagree and I would hate to see gop govern like Bambi disregarding the constitution.
I like the fact he has brought things to forefront of conversation and understand his increase in polls but honestly when he copies all of Cruz’s long held positions and Cruz is an ADULT it baffles me. Real deal or bigmouth bully who knows how to play the media?
“I think trumpees are naive to think he will do everything he says”
Now how sure are the “cruzies” are that he is going to do anything he says when the last bill he put before the Senate went down in flames, just like all of the others.
You know the guy that is a genius debater, the most gifted scholar of the constitution in history, the only statesman and adult in all of Washington?
Yet not one single accomplishment in a congress dominated by Republicans? But please dont pay attention to Trump that is at least taking some tough positions and working for every vote rather than waiting it out on the sides for everyone else to flame out.
“when he copies all of Cruzâs long held positions”
Like what position does he have a patent on? The last position that Trump took had some Cruz people squealing with joy that he would finally be destroyed! Cruz disagreed with it as well.
Any dope can utter a position. It takes a winner to do it with enough conviction to get the people to believe in it too.
Trump put it out there in clear language that people get, and he doesn’t back off it when the Media, GOPe and even Cruz supporters have a flipping meltdown over it. THAT is why people gravitate to him.
It’s the same thing that Scott Walker people had to be told last summer when they were “baffled” that simply posting a resume over and over again didn’t make him the guaranteed nominee.
âI think trumpees are naive to think he will do everything he saysâ
His example has given a dose of testosterone to the other candidates and they should be thankful.
From what I can see, it is Trump and/or Cruz. Everyone else is just more of the same. At least with Trump or Cruz it may be less of the same...
