The Department of Veterans Affairs seems unwilling to fire its employees, regardless of outlandish conduct. A new investigation has turned up instances in which employees had sex at work or slept in patient rooms only to receive mild reprimands.
This misconduct occurred in hospital facilities spread out among West Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia. Three facilities, one in each region, disciplined, but did not fire, a total of 300 employees, according to a Freedom of Information Act request by NBC4 Washington.
In one case at the Martinsburg facility in West Virginia, employees actually had sex at the center. Another employee slept under a blanket in a patient room during work hours. Still another was placed under investigation for being high on cocaine. ...

Probably saved by a left over policy from the Bubba Klintoon era.
An ad for Wounded Warriors Project said they got help for a vet the next day after his family made an appeal. The VA is completely incompetent, so why not abolish it and give vets vouchers for private care? Government can’t manage a 2-car funeral let alone health care or education.
President Trump will clean it up.
I used to think the word was "unable" - it's more accurate to say "unwilling".
This story is Trump-ready.
Well, yeah, this might just explain patient wait times and false appointment making or failure to notify patients.
It seems Georgie Boy just worked for the wrong company.
Add incompetent.
I really wonder what these so-called "values" are and how on earth these people are still employed at the VA in December, 2015.
I'm working for the wrong company!
Lol. Classic!

A guy at USC who has gotten away routinely with things that would get a working person fired or even some time in the slam would fit right in at VA.
Taxpayers and veterans would do far better with a private system.
Let’s not forget people send their kids to the same clowns for their education..
Government workers = lazy bums.
Not all, just most!
Too bad Clemson grads are already in those positions and won’t get fired.
The worst nurse I ever worked with was at Lakeside VA in Chicago when I was in medical school. The vicious bitch would put all the patients in restraints at night, tying many to a metal bed pan. I still remember my Intern who would get me in the morning and say” come on let’s free the slaves”. When we reported this to administrative nothing was done. It would take almost an act of Comgress to fire a VA employee at the time.
