I think the new thing is that its available for civilian use. I saw this on tv a few years ago, and it was being used by the military. Each one of those sponges lights up bright on an x-ray too, so none get left inside by accident.

The tv show was about innovation, and it went into great detail about production costs, etc. It was fascinating.

“Each sponge is also tagged with a radiopaque marker so it can be easily spotted using X-ray”

RadiOPAQUE (blocks X-rays)

Not RadioACTIVE

Are Israeli Bandages a style or a brand?

It looks like these are especially good for big gaping wounds (exit wounds often are, especially from something like an AK).

There have been similar, though smaller devices (good for straight bullet channels), available for civilians, based on clotting agents (like quick clot or celox), rather than sponges:

Hmm.
Looks suspiciously like a Tampax tampon with its applicator.

Yes, they’ve been used for many years. This is just a technologically improved tampon.

Yes. But I believe this is being marketed to EMTs faced with trauma cases.

“Looks suspiciously like a Tampax tampon with its applicator.”

Hopefully harder to confuse in reality. Like grabbing the tube of Icy Hot instead of lube.

Kinda sorta both. You can read about them/buy them on Amazon.

Did that once...except I thought I was grabbing Bacitracin. Found my mistake too late. Ouchie.

I’m not being picky, but it is expensive, and it BURNS when applied. I don’t know why, but it REALLY hurts.

I already concede its a lifesaver.
