The owner of four pitbulls is facing a murder charge after his dogs mauled to death a 4-year-old boy in Detroit, Michigan.
Geneke Antonio Lyons, 41, was charged with second-degree murder, manslaughter, and possessing dangerous animals causing death, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office.
The vicious attack occurred last week as the boy and his mother were walking together down the street. The dogs attacked the pair and dragged the child under a fence and into Lyons' backyard, where the boy was found lying on his back with "massive wounds," according to the prosecutor's office.
Three of the dogs involved were shot on the spot by police; the fourth was taken into police custody and later euthanized. The prosecutor's office stated that the dogs were a known problem in the neighborhood and that they had escaped their fenced area in the past.

perhaps you should know?
I have to say it was because the owners dogs were behaving as if they were a hunting pack....it is both nurture and the breed. The pit bulls generally attract two types of owners. ones that want a mean dog that people will be scared of or those that think if they love the dog enough he wont do bad things. for a lot of people the pit is just bad match up...the breed is very stubborn and needs an owner that is willing to put in the time and effort with the dog and even then you will still have some that it is best to put down for the safety of everyone but that situation can happen with any large breed of dog. no one is ever real scared of the vicious Pomeranian or other small breed dog.
And therein lies the problem. Far too many in that breed are products of backyard ghetto "breeders" looking for a quick buck.
that’s good to no because it means my penis is big and my dogs would will be begging for treats when the big bad burglar breaks in to my house. My two dogs Benny and juno looks at everyone as if they might be a source for treats.
Dog lovers are generally totally blind to anything that their animals do that annoy or injure other people.

As if you know enough about the 66.5 million homes with dogs to make such a statement.
All you have told us is the people you know + the people in the news (like the folks and dogs in this story you are commenting on) might be “generally totally blind”, whatever that means.
Remember, it’s only the sensational that makes the news, so those of us with a couple of dogs just living our lives (the far away majority of dog owners) are entirely invisible to you and the media.
I’m a little surprised you continue to fall for it.
And let’s also address the statement annoy or injure. Two entirely different things.
Annoyance is your problem.
The injury part is on me if my dog is responsible.
Obviously it’s both the breed and the upbringing. Border Collies are wonderful, intelligent dogs but they will herd what ever they can, even your kids and they will often get a little snappy if they can’t get enough exercise. They were breed to their herding skills and connections to their owner. This is hardly controversial with most people.
Why then would anyone think that a breed that was bred for fighting and protecting people/property (bred for aggressive behavior) will be anything other than aggressive. Put them in packs and you are asking for it. Then you go and train them to protect yourself and incourage aggressive behavior.
Good. Also, Animal Control needs to step up its game, there were prior complaints.
With the exception of defending one of the family against an assailant, 'bite one and done' is the rule.
Now you're showing your true colors. Most counties have Nuisance Dog ordinances that cover excessive barking, dogs roaming loose, tipping over trash etc. It's the dog owners problem.
If I put in a hog pen upwind of your house and you didn't like the smell it would be your problem right?
Don’t recall anyone ever getting killed by a border collie
Me neither. My point was that dogs are bred for certain capabilities. Border Collies are bred to herd, Pit bulls are bred for their aggressiveness. All of their breeding cannot be trained totally out of them.
Now you’re showing your true colors

You can play your gotcha games with someone else, not interested. Things that are covered by statutes are obviously the dog owner’s concern.
Petty annoyances are still your problem.
Kind of unfair to expect these folks of limited economic capacity to do all that "accomplishment" stuff that non-danger-dog owners do.
