Swedish rock band Europe, best known for their 1987 arena hit "The Final Countdown," are enjoying their biggest chart success ever - thanks to GEICO.
Placement in the insurance agency's current "It's What You Do" campaign, where a bunch of office workers wait around as an employee heats up a burrito while the band rocks out in the corner, has vaulted the song to Number 1 on multiple Billboard charts.
Last month, Billboard reported that "The Final Countdown" spent four weeks atop its Hard Rock Digital Songs chart, giving the band their first Number 1 in their career. "The Final Countdown" reached Number 8 on the Hot 100 back in 1987, while power ballad "Carrie" peaked at Number 3 that same year.
Today, "The Final Countdown" tops the Billboard and Clio Music's Top Commercials Chart, which is powered by Shazam. The song sold 28,000 digital copies and was streamed 5.8 million times in the United States for the month of October, up from 20,000 and 3.7 million, respectively, the previous month. On YouTube, the commercial has been played more than 700,000 times.

If you're a Christian, rejoice and look up for your redemption draws near. If you don't know Jesus, TODAY is the day to be saved.
As far as Geico goes, I love their ads even though I don't carry their insurance.

They are funny the first 20 or 30 thousand times. After that they lose something.
Another great 80s song I've been listening to a lot lately in that same vein is "Forever Young" from Alphaville. It got new life by being featured in the recent "Napoleon Dynamite" movie.
That one and the smart-a$$ little boy one I mute immediately.
I’ve seen the commercial and it’s funny.
It’s funny because it is such a cheesy and kitschy horrid song and the band’s appearance matches the kitschiness of the song.
We are laughing at them. Absurdist humor.
I immediately mute three things
1) The a$$ little boy
2) and whoever gets in front of the statute of Liberty to snivel about their insurance
3) Obama talking
actually four things...
4) Hillary talking

The guy microwaving his burrito is hilarious. He kinda looks around, then looks back at the timer on the microwave in astonishment.
I like the lady at the end who is rocking out with the band.
I gotta admit that one is one of my favorites like the camel on Wednesday.
God Awful song, sounds like it was written by the lawyers that penned, ‘’in the year 2525’’.
Then listen to “Carrie” by the same band!
Thanks.
Now that's going to be stuck in my head all afternoon. (2525)
You should listen to “Rock The Night” by Europe, also!

Geico has the best ads on television. So creative and unexpected. So many great lines. Middle schools have actually had to ban the “hump day” imitations.
Love the women gooving at the end
Yours is definitely more prescient.
