What would happen in your neighborhood or town if...?

I would really like to know what people think about this. It may be something to think about.

If someone rode through your neighborhood with a loudspeaker shouting "The terrorists are coming! They're killing everyone!", what do you think would happen in your neighborhood or town Would the modern day version of Paul Revere produce any results where you live? Please opine on what your neighbors would do, not just yourself.

they’d be outside with guns and bats as giddy as kids on Christmas morning.

Notice that there weren’t any violent protests when Eric Garner died. Maybe in Manhattan. Who knows?

But not here.

The "fog of war" is such that most people, even those who take terrorists seriously, would be disinclined to believe it. Paul Revere worked because he was known by EVERYONE. In Boston, there were five men's clubs. No one belonged to mroe than two - - except Revere and Dawes! So when he rode through, it would be like hearing Rush Limbaugh say, "I have a solid report here that in your community there are terrorists coming."

There will be a lot of bluster here about "I'd kill em all," but the fact is that short of absolute certainty that something was seriously wrong, no one is going to go out and shoot anyone. Now, the situation in San Bernadino is different: two people in all black with masks and guns? You're damn sure most of us who could would get weapons and return fire, probably pretty accurately. But under most conditions, people would be afraid of shooting the wrong person (a neighbor who just wandered out at the wrong time) or prosecution from shooting an innocent person.

dear leader has been telling the US ‘the terrorists are coming’ not as a warning, but as a matter of fact, and the people of the US have been warned and you know what? NOONE is doing anything about it- they are just accepting it- that is your answer- infact- we’ve been accepting it for decades now as terrorists have been imported and have taken over whole towns- look up Somalis in Lewiston maine to see what I’m talking about

NOONE did anything to stop it- people talk tough- but when the actual acts come down- no one does anything

Most of my neighbors would be hiding under their beds. Fortunately for them, there are a few of us who are prepared and they wouldn’t get much past the entrance to the neighborhood.

Family goes downstairs, each taking a gun or two. Their main job will be loading them and being ready for an intrusion.

I’ve got a pretty good hidey hole location next to my house. It’s the pit for my egress window and pretty defensible.

I don’t know my neighbors well enough and what their positions are, but I’ll defend my neighborhood.

I think my neighbors would laugh it off. They are totally engrossed in the “NORMALCY FACTOR”.

Block Party maybe to welcome new AMERICANS(lol)!

My little subdivision is mostly filled with current or former military. The women and kids would shelter in place, and the mommies are probably armed.

The terrorists would not have a good day.

wow.

yeah, interlopers dont get a good reception around here.

After 9/11 out here, a lot of cars had signs or paint saying “Bush, Let the Dogs Loose”

That's known as 'normalcy bias', where people are disinclined to recognize that the S is hitting the fan in front of their eyes.

It is human nature.

Between my neighbor and I, I think they'd have a hard time getting by.

I live in an upscale paranoid mostly white well armed neighborhood. We have neighborhood BBQ’s, yard sales, lot’s of neighborhood interaction. Trust me. We’re ready.

This scenario is not plausible. Our insecurity comes from the fear of attacks like Paris or California - not a full scale invasion.

Despite the problems we still have the most powerful military in the world and we are separated by oceans from our enemy. We also have lots of law enforcement resources.

The rallying cry should be simple - don’t allow them in our country to begin with. There is no Red Dawn scenario for America - none of our potential enemies has the resources to launch an invasion on our shore in a conventional sense. The danger remains immigration of Jihadists and radicalization of those already here - i.e. a terror campaign, not an invasion.

I am just reminding people of that. I think most Americans and our local law enforcement who are part of our communities would rise to any defense.
