Seeing a lot of strange characters in some of the posts. Quotation marks, apostrophes, etc., are showing up as strange characters. I am currently using Firefox 42. Until the Source URL, I have linked a page here that displays the issue. For example, ââ¬Å appears to be an open quote.
Sometimes FF says FreeRepublic is a scam site or something and prevents me from entering it.
Nice. Probably overkill for someone making a simple reply or post. But someone posting a lot of daily information, as mentioned by poster “left that other site”, could come in quite handy.
“”Anyone else seeing this?””
Only for the past three months. Those cats must take up a lot of your time.
It does make a difference depending on the original source. I’ve seen some posts that had so many of those odd replacement characters it hurt to look at it.
Not as much as dealing with family matters.
I use FF also, and have been seeing these for a while now too.
Almost as annoying is once this text has been posted, there isn’t much that can be done other than manually correcting it. Sometimes, there doesn’t appear to be a problem until I post it.
Strange characters?
If you see something, say something.
I only get it when I copy and paste from a source other than my notepad... If I forgot to delete commas, apostrophes and quotation marks, it’s a mess.
It does it in Firefox and IE.
I like to think of myself as eloquent unique intelligent idiom with Sesquipedalian Loquaciousness qualities.
Been having the same issue for over a month - but I am using Chrome.
It was low hanging fruit, but a classic nonetheless.
Ping.
I don't know. Let me ask them! :)
The answer is this: dogs have owners. Cats have staff.
Safari has the same problem on an iPad.
May as well bump before another one starts.
I have gotten kind of use to it.
Interesting that you didn’t post for 9 months.
Glad you are back.
We’ve been living with it for while.
You get used to it—I’m astonished that you never noticed it before.
.
I’ve been away for quite some time. Much of it not by choice.
Thank you for that link.
