In a recent disquieting article for the New York Times, Choire Sicha investigates a curious new challenge for gyms: Some men want to shower and change without ever being publicly nude, and they expect their gyms to build locker rooms that accommodate that desire. Drawing upon the experiences of gym managers and architects, Sicha explains that over the last quarter-century, men have grown increasingly uneasy with being naked in the locker room. While older men generally remain comfortable being undressed among others, younger ones insist on maximum privacy, pining for a way to strip, shower, and change clothes without even a flash of nudity.

They are just trying to make the emperor feel better. Don’t fret, chief! It’s completely normal to ‘have no clothes.’
I think gyms disgusting , all That Sweat
I’ve seen what most people look like when naked. Keep that crap covered.
Thank you.
Another truth. If you work for Slate, you are an ***hole.
The Gay Movement thing. It creates suspicion and separates otherwise normal friendships between guys.
becuase you dont want homos gawking at your junk?
Slate just wants people to accept them being naked around children.
I guess younger men are concerned about not measuring up to the pornfication of America...
Might make them ‘ feel ‘ like they have inadequacy issues...
The solution is get married, if your wife is happy, who cares what the naked man next to you in the locker room thinks...
Thus sayeth the author who brags about being a homo at the end of the article. Sorry, freak, but the mentally ill do not get to define what is rational.

Probably shouldn’t have put these people in charge of your country.
Oh well.
Go pay your taxes you hatefilled bigot. :)
Heck, on a California beach I saw men and women strip to their nothing without batting an eye - and no cover charge!
I’ve actually noticed this and made comment about this. I wonder if this is an outcome of smaller and smaller families. When I was kid (in a very large family), nudity wasn’t that big a deal and kids bathed together until they were too big to fit into the tub together. In two kid families and with sometimes years between then, there is less of that and kids don’t grow up the same.
Gee, Slate. Maybe there’s a direct correlation between gay men being out and aggressive and more comfortable coming onto/checking out other men, and men’s level of discomfort being naked around other men? Bet if you graphed the results, you’d have an interesting chart.
Obama and the sellout congress are importing our Moslem-islamonazi enemies by the millions to mass-murder us and turn USA into another krapistan - and this guy can think of nothing better than the thrill he gets looking at naked guys in the locker room?
A couple years in the military cures any shyness.
The same people who advocate perversion and murder based on a supposed right to privacy want to take away any true right to privacy that natural law, common decency, and common sense inform us as being innate to humanity. And these perverts will not be content until they are beating down doors, telling us to send the men out that they may know them, and God purges them from this earth as he did Sodom.
In the many years I worked underground and showered and changed at the end of my shift, I never was particularly uncomfortable. I and most everyone else just wanted to get clean and head for the house. The men that horse played were left to themselves and didn’t hassle those who were anxious to go home, at least after a confrontation or two. Discomfort didn’t really figure in.
