Sen. Bernie Sander (I-Vt.) is having an elective outpatient procedure Monday at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C.
Sanders, 74, is having a hernia repair procedure. The Democratic presidential hopeful is slated to return to his Senate duties on Tuesday, according to Sanders spokesman Michael Briggs.
The senator has been gaining on Democratic Party favorite Hillary Clinton in primary polls this summer. His presidential campaign has been characterized by a denouncement of super PACs and a push to expand social rights such as free college education.

He saw above him that endless skyway
And when he fell into that golden valley
His hernia was paid for by you and me.
So how long will his counseling for crazy take? Years?
At his age, who cares anymore....
How is hernia repair elective? Hope that doc doesn’t amputate his feet for profit.
He must have felt the bern...
He is only 74?!!!
Hell, I thought he was way pushing 90...
Guess that happens when your head is so far up your butt
“His hernia was paid for by you and me. “
I want a refund!
Been there. That first step getting out of bed was a killer.
Lots of times they defer surgery or waive it altogether depending on the severity of the condition (if it is a simple inguinal hernia).
So he’s a mess...and Hillary passes out and O’Malley will be the nominee.
It is elective if the intent is to keep his nuts in place...
Is he getting a brain transplant?
He should just take the pain pill. We shouldn’t have to pay for this surgery on an end of life patient past retirement age.
If they can ration healthcare for private citizens do the same for the heads of state with the same reasoning.
Got a patch 16 years ago. It ultimately failed, so I am having a surgical consult next week for a redo.
Bernie looks like he smells like my great grandmother’s old Victorian house.
Had double hernia surgery in August.
It didn’t even hurt for a day. My belly looked like it could be used as a fondue stick holder. Five holes.
But, it was hurting so much when I went in, I guess I was just relieved it didn’t hurt any longer.
It felt like someone grabbed my testicles and held on as they spunme over their head. No kidney stone pain, but deep kicked in the groin pain.
I don’t wish that on anyone.
...after it has been closed up for a decade???
Fairly humorous joke from Trump tonight in Macon (live stream)- said Bernie got a hernia from lugging around all those heavy taxes and the extra ones he expects us to pay.
Then went right in to obamaumao care as a failure.
Probably lucky you didn’t have damage due to reduced circulation.
Mine was in my abdomen. Hurt before and hurt after (for around a week).
