IIRC, after the Revolutionary war, soldiers were allowed BY WASHINGTON to keep their weapons.
Good for Kansas!
Uh, this happened last year. Its been legal since July 1 2015.
I wish Texas would pass the law. And those who have convictions of violent criminal acts should not be allowed to carry.
We’ve got a true leader in Governor Brownback. He’s a man of conviction. God Bless him!
I work in Kansas, and live just 30 miles north in Nebraska. I really just need to move. Nebraska is run by nanny statists.
My son watched some “potential” gun owners looking at guns this weekend...inspecting them by picking the up with a thumb and forefinger. I’m 100% 2nd amendment...but I still think there should be a little training...not to buy, but to cc. There are a hell of a lot of folks buying guns today that I’d consider “doubtful” on the street in a combat sutuation? I carry every day, I encourage my friends to get locked and loaded and get their permit. I take new people to the range,(and always start with safety). But turning some of these people lose with a loaded gun and NO SAFETY TRAINING is just plain frightening.
I think the next step should be “to arm the honest poor.”
The idea is that for less than $30,000, a whole bunch of inexpensive .22LR revolvers and ammunition could be bought, then engraved as “NOT FOR RESALE - Property of (Charity) - Return for Reward.” Each one should be tested and a cartridge and bullet retained.
Then, say there is a poor neighborhood of 200 family dwellings. Only one in four families (50) can legally have a gun *and* are willing to take one.
That is much less than just one years[ cost of a single policeman to protect that neighborhood.
If one of those guns is used in a crime, it can be quickly traced to its owner, so finding out who used it would be much easier.
Yet this would break the stranglehold of criminals who live in and dominate that neighborhood.
And $30,000, donated by somebody who cared, is peanuts compared to the other means used to help.
SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED
One governor understands what that means.
