Google has surprised users by announcing it will extend support for its Chrome web browser running on Microsoft's old Windows XP operating system until April 2016.
Windows XP was sunset in April last year, with security patches no longer available for the obsolete operating system.
Google at the time said support for Chrome on XP would be ditched at the same time as Microsoft ceased to provide updates for its operating system.

Ping...
Ahhh... but this says it will extend Chrome support verses the other thread’s claim that it will Cut It Off.
We should probably see what develops to-morrow concerning this, no doubt.
See you then, mate! I’m for a few more Cold Ones and then off to The Land Of Nod and beyond.
Right, then; talk again soon, ‘ay?
Cheers now. :)
I would say that this is just an extension of the popularity of XP and Windows 7 compared to Windows 10. Expect to see more of this from other vendors.
So when is Windows 11 coming out without the mandatory updates (among other things)?
I expect Windows 10 to be finally become prominent in the year 2035 - but of course Windows 15 will be available then.
Must be enough users still on XP that Chrome doesn't want to walk away from that market share.
Or you can take you spying Chrome browser and stick it where the Google spyware doesn’t shine by running Comodo IceDragon browser which runs quite fine with XP.
As an aside I have Windows XP and Microsoft doesn’t allow me to download some things. CLAIMS it’s dangerous.
