A post mortem found she died as a result of her "excessive consumption" of caffeine from the fizzy pop combined with her prescription drugs.
"When mum was drinking heavily she could get through a one-litre bottle of vodka a day and four two-litre bottles of Pepsi Max."

Occasionally while running LSD(long slow distance) after about 10 miles I had breathing difficulties, but not all the time.
The doctor wired me up and put me on a treadmill and said go until it happens.
After some time all the monitors started to blink ARRHYTHMIA ...ARRHYTHMIA ....ARRHYTHMIA ALARMS ARE GOING OFF!!! I STILL FELT JUST FINE!
They ask me to continue until the breathing troubles came on. A few minutes later it happened.
The first thing the Doc says, how much coffee do you drink?
I used to drink it all day long and more after dinner!
Excesses caffeine, he said only affects about 15% of us coffee guzzlers.
Now only a two cups in the morning, and no more problems.
Just let that caffeine be!
Naturally the vodka and prescription drugs didn’t have anything to do with it.
That’s Darwin Award material.
Well, she might have cut out the meds and the vodka, and had a glass of milk now and then.
I have the feeling that eight liters of ANYTHING every day will kill you.
8 litres of WATER every day will kill you.
I drink about two cups of coffee a day along with my four packs of cigarettes. And I think this coffee is killing me!
Check on the can....see if it has phosphoric acid.
Unless she were drinking LOTS of other caffeinated beverages this is unlikely to be sole cause of death. 388 mg / 2 liters of Pepsi Max, or 3.1 grams in 8 bottles over the course of a day (say 12 hours); four hours to clear her liver, means 1 gram of caffeine in her system at any one time. LD50 is around 10 grams for a normal weight person, and I’m guessing she ain’t.
“along with my four packs of cigarettes.:
Please tell me you’re joking.
Damn you, Pepsi Max!
It couldn’t have been the bottle of vodka every day.
The vodka was supplied by a distiller which doesn't have as deep of pockets as Pepsi. Plus it was only one liter to Pepsi's eight.
So, of course, it is Pepsico's fault.
If she would have stayed away from the Pepsi, and just stuck with the one liter of vodka and prescription drugs each day, she’d still be with us.
Well, then, sue the manufacturer of water. Of course!
Um...
There is a thread going around here about white middle age people dropping like flies.
Yeah, you can't eat massive amounts of chemicals, mixed with other chemicals, mixed with all sorts of substance abuse mixed with stress--mixed with immobility mixed with no impulse control.
But, think of how much you can shrink your carbon footprint if you are dead.
Interesting that they didn’t list the liter of vodka as a contributing factor.
I think the alcohol had a lot more to do with her demise than the pepsi
