Billy Joel - Cold Spring Harbor [1971 LP - Incorrect pressing speed fixed in post] Family Productions - FPS 2700

VPI Super Scoutmaster TT Graham Engineering Phantom Tonearm Musical Fidelity kW Phono Preamp Lyra Skala cartridge VPI record clamp and counterweight Anti-vibration table mount

iZotope RX 4 for click repair Audacity for RIAA/Reverse RIAA EQ application Sony Vegas Pro 13 for fine pitch correction and YouTube encoding (96khz/384kbps AAC audio, 1080p) foobar2000 SoX plugin for FLAC encoding foobar2000 LAME v3.99 and SoX for MP3 encoding

FLAC: http://www.mediafire.com/download/3ba...

MP3 (320kbps): http://www.mediafire.com/download/9a7...

This album was captured at 24 bit depth and 96khz sample rate. The rip you are hearing is a mixture of eight separate LPs, with the best quality segments being used and put together in Pro Tools. Two LPs were sealed, the rest were in NM condition. Any distortion you hear is a result of the poor pressing quality of the album rather than an anomaly of the playback equipment. This rip was created and released for free by Billy Joel: Completely Retold user Jamie Tate. He has done a tremendous job.

The rip was worked on exclusively in 32 bit, 96khz environments, and at no point during capture or post-processing (except for the final 320kbps MP3 encode) was the quality compromised. No EQ or noise removal has been applied to change the tonality of the music.

So they went to herculean effort to fix and capture the sonic integrity of this album...and then after hyping it to heaven...destroyed the fidelity with youtube compression to show how great it sounds.

America. What a country!

You may know, but he sang the National Anthem at last night’s World Series game...

Not a Billy Joel fan myself but his work is better than 99% of what's out there.

This is the Modern Music Ping List. Our topic is music from the 20th and 21st century, from Ravel and Shostakovich through to the Synth Pioneers and beyond.

Topic suggestions are always welcome, and pings to music-related threads are appreciated.

There’s at least four men in the world that got tired of Christie Brinkley’s $hit.

I've done my part for the world, by staying married to the same woman for nearly 30 years. I'm not the easiest guy to live with, but she's on a tear right now.

She's convinced that she failed as a mom by not keeping the pressure on our two oldest kids up through high school.

Her solution? Drive my 13 YO son (and me) batty by being a helicopter parent. Poor kid's in band (all city - trumpet), football, scouts, and honor roll to boot. She's on fire over basketball tryouts in about 10 days, starting the day after the last football game.

I've been taking him to the gym 3-4 times a week to get him ready. He's been playing in pickup games against adults, and that's boosted his confidence. Thanks to my urging, he's using the backboard on his shots from the wing, he's now a deadeye from 15-18 feet.

For all her pestering and cajoling, she hasn't seen one minute of his progress.

She's a great wife and mother, but she needs to learn when to take the foot off the gas. lol

Not a Billy Joel fan myself...

Well, de gustibus non est disputandum or some such, but he didn't win the Gershwin Award for nothing. He's the most underrated of the supposedly overrated songwriters of the filthy hippie generation. A regular Hoagy Carmichael or Jerome Kern really, but with an amazing range/set of pipes.
