Obamacare Deductible for Subsidized NOT $6,000
Vanity | 10/30/15 | Self

Hello all you other gainfully employed chumps paying for your own health care insurance.

I just wanted you to know something I've found out. If you have a BRONZE plan like I do, because you are paying for it yourself and can't afford anything else, you are paying a $6,000 deductible per person before you can file a single claim to perhaps get any benefit.

Meanwhile, people who have subsidized plans because they aren't working or not working or not earning very much get the vaunted SILVER plan! And you are paying for it. You are paying for a plan for others "less fortunate than you" better than you can afford for yourself.

How do I know? Second hand knowledge about the SILVER plan from someone who has it via subsidy and first hand from me who has a BRONZE plan.

The guy I know who has the subsidized SILVER plan is getting lots of work done on himself at essentially ZERO cost to himself. The SILVER plan covers him. Technically he does have a deductible and copay but that is not the point. The point is, he is getting better health care than I can afford and I, by taxes, am paying for his.

The not being able to afford good primary health care and only being able to afford catastrophic insurance, the BRONZE plan, story only applies to the working poor like me who don't get a subsidized plan.

But you can’t get Obamacare once you’re 65. A lot of seniors will be passed because Medicare is going to cost them a lot more than Obamacare did!

He should be able to get Medicare if he’s on SSDI. Or is there a year waiting period?

Hope he gets better!

Not sure what the deal is - the wife keeps track of the specifics and I tell her it's OK to spend some cash if he needs something he can't afford. Since Medicare only covers "80%" and cancer treatment is expensive, it may be that he has an "Obama Care supplement".

We are hopeful but the prognosis isn't that great right now - thanks for the well-wishes.

The last thing he needs to worry about right now is finances.

But...Make sure he updates his income (if it’s lower) and checks plans for 2016 if he’s on Obamacare- our premium went up by almost 50% so we’re switching plans! If we don’t, they’ll just roll us over on to the same now mire expensive plan.

The government's share is only about 36B per year. I believe we give at least that and maybe more to foreign countries annually. I agree with you someone(s) is working to destroy America. They're getting away with it too and we may already be beyond the ability to right ourselves. At least I'm starting to feel that way.

If we see American women en-mass at prayer gatherings seeking forgiveness for having abortions, or reversal of gay marriage laws, and etc. I may began to feel otherwise.

As for our healthcare system and our economy, I don't see how either can last much longer myself. It may be some consolation to those stuck with Obamacare to know we will all be in the same boat very soon.
