If you don’t mind, and somebody above already asked this question but I don’t see it answered, and only if you feel comfortable disclosing, please tell us what your monthly premiums are. Knowing the deductible is only part of the picture. Thanks.

Not that familiar with gov policies except from reading the plan listed. Bet the deductible is the same nationwide though, since it's a nationwide plan.

Anytime the government gets involved in purchasing services, supplies, or whatever. The cost of those items skyrocket!

Unsure of why the government created Obamacare in the first place, when it could have adapted a plan for other than government employees or a SS plan. Some in Washington brought it up. What has been created [Obamacare] is one of the biggest scams conceived by mankind. And heaven only knows how many it will kill or bankrupt before we necessarily go back to the way heath services were acquired 50 years ago.

“I can€™t afford to expose to unlimited medical cost liability”

It never ceases to amaze me how correct Gruber was in summing up the lack of intelligence in USA voters!

And you probably thought he was just talking about “uneducated” working class poor and lower income wage earning USA citizens...LOL!

Nobody can afford health care anymore, now that it is 100% run by the government!

Even my cash only, walk-in medical clinic took down their formerly openly published price list for various health care services, after Obamacare kicked in.

Complete physical-$99.00
Office visit w/general on-site lab blood test-$50.00
Advanced lab tests-$25.00
X-Rays-$45.00

Are you attaining a glimmer of clue yet?

Obamacare has made our private insurance unaffordable. January hubbys insurance goes up 29%. $263 more per month We will be paying $1600 per month for both our insurances.

In general, Bronze plans are garbage. Buy a Bronze plan only if you will never use it and you care only about low premium.

Silver is best for most people. A Silver plan has extra subsidies that Bronze, Gold, Platinum and Catastrophic plans do not have.

If you shop for plans at healthcare.gov, the Silver plans will change based on the income you report. There are always 4 versions of the Silver plan, depending on how your expected/reported income compares to Federal Poverty Level (FPL):

  1. If income is 100% to 150% of FPL, the "Silver" plan has the benefit structure of a PLATINUM plan.
  2. If income is 150% to 200% of FPL, the "Silver" plan has the benefit structure of a GOLD plan.
  3. If income is 200% to 250% of FPL, the "Silver" plan has the benefit structure a little better than the base Silver plan.
  4. If income is 250% of FPL or higher, the "Silver" plan has the benefit structure of a Silver plan (this is the base plan).

Here is a chart showing income as a % of Federal Poverty Level (FPL) for different household sizes:

Try a car wreck, cancer, heart attack etc. Don’t qualify for walk in clinic cash rates.

If you don’t know what it means to not be able to afford exposure to such you can’t see the glimmer either.

Have a nice day.

one of the biggest scams...”

IMO several somebody’s decided what was necessary to destroy America by looking at those components that were most important to people. Then determined in which order they would be attacked and how to launch that attack. Obviously there were some opportunities that presented themselves outside the plan which did serve to speed up the process. This is obviously a gross oversimplification. But we are seeing the destruction of our culture through immigration, our religious system, our means of self-support through removal of jobs, our educational system, our family system, our military and law enforcement system, our health care and our financial stability. Just don’t know how much longer we can survive the combined onslaught jointly waged by the court system, the media, the politicians and the freeloaders which are empowered by those entities.

Regarding the plan available to Federal employees, I think if the taxpayers knew how much their medical care was costing us, it would be close to the final straw.

Oh my! So, to get your money’s worth, you’d have to use at least $19,200 in health care per year. What a rip off! If you are a typical healthy person, there’s no way you’d use that amount of medical services, not even close. If you banked that, in 10 years you’d have $192,000.

This whole insurance thing is a total scam. They have to be the ones behind this Obamacare scheme. Seriously, someone is making a hell of a lot of money off this.

Thanks for providing the numbers.

Pretty much right. Example, if you retire and have a lot of cash and a relatively small amount of tax-deferred savings (401k’s, Traditional IRAs, etc.), then you what you do is figure out how to get your ‘income’ to be in the Obamacare sweet-spot for the Silver Plan. If you hit that, then you pay virtually nothing for medical care.

The sweet-spot, I believe is about $32k for states that also have taken the Medicaid bait. So you add up your interest, capital gains, and any other income, then pull just enough out of your IRA, and if you nail it, you’ll hit that sweet spot where you’re considered ‘poor’, even if you have a million or so in cash laying around.

...and you are right, only the Silver Plans are subsidized in that way.

Our son, who has cancer, has Obama Care He's on SSI disability and just got word his premiums are going up by 50% and his deductible is doubling - pretty much wiping out his SSI.

The way to change things is to keep pushing the most conservative candidates we can get - that takes donations (even for the cash strapped if they want to do something instead of hoping others will do it for them).

Now for a short public service announcement to all on FR:
I prefer Cruz and my money goes to his campaign, hence the Cruz link. If you like someone else, donate to him/her (find your own link to do it) and if you use FR and don't donate, then please don't complain about the welfare leeches or those who have Obama Phones because, functionally, you are no different than any other FReeloader.....

GO CRUZ!! Keep it up Trump!!

Donate to Cruz

Donate to FR

It’s called a cost sharing reduction plan and actually not only lowers the premium, but also the deductibles and out of pocket maximums for the silver plans. Those in a lower income bracket get these not-advertised bennies.

Here’s the website on it:

“If we all knew what some people were getting by sitting on their asses we would probably revolt and refuse to fund the damn government until they fixed it!”

We did just that! We quit working full-time, moved to a rural area, bought acreage so we can be as self-sufficient as possible, will start some small businesses so we can control our taxable income by putting anything over $20k in 401k plans so our AGI is low and we won’t be funding the fascist beast any longer.

I non-jokingly recommend everyone do the same as soon as they can.

“Unless you have nothing at all and no prospect of having anything at all I don’t see how anyone can afford to not have insurance.”

Exactly- we’d lose all our savings if we got sick without insurance. We wouldn’t be able to retire, or as we did, Go Galt.
