Amazing how the definition of “cool” has changed.

Graphene is proving useful for super capacitors as well. Below is a Canadian company also working on graphene based energy storage.

awesome!

Does anyone here have any experience with tiny gas or electric motors?

I am looking for something very small and light, that could run at its most efficient constant speed to run a battery charger.

is more than 90% efficient, and, to date, can be recharged more than 2000 times

Wow, that is a major step forward. Roughly 5 1/2 years assuming a nightly/daily charge. Think of route delivery trucks like the postal trucks and daily commuter cars. Of course, this will drive your electric bill through the roof ...

Here’s hoping their batteries are more practical than their windshields.

Cool. The battery capacity and reliability has been the technological wall.

If you're looking for an electric motor to run a battery charger, you might want to re-think that scenario.

Here is a Harbor Freight generator that uses a gasoline string trimmer sized engine.

That’s actually a kit car anyone can buy and build from another company. I understand instead of building their own, they simply purchased one of these for prototyping their electric drive.

thank you!

I even thought about using a big RC airplane engine

I am building an electric helicopter (drone) and want to recharge the batteries in-flight

Any engineers here want to get in on the ground floor of a new company?

“There’s still a lot of work to do,” said Liu. “But what we’ve seen here suggests that there are ways to solve these problems - maybe we’ve just got to look at things a little differently.”

While this sounds promising it also reminds me of the nuclear fusion power plants that have been promised for a long, long, long time. Hopefully, a battery might be easier.
