INDIANAPOLIS - Indianapolis Metro Police officers say "multiple" people were injured in a shooting inside Washington Square Mall on the Indianapolis east side.
It's happening at 10202 E. Washington Street. Several police cars are currently parked outside the southeast entrance of the mall, near the Target store.
Police say three, maybe four, people were struck by gunfire. Their conditions are unknown.
The mall, a former Simon Malls property, is now operated by Jones Lang Lasalle.
An Indianapolis woman tweeted this post about being injured in the shooting, but so far WTHR has not confirmed details of any injuries.
Thank God you’re safe.
Yes, that area is a little rough.
Is the food at Papa Roux’s good? I’ve never been there.
Yup.
It is outside I-465, but the Indy malls have been overrun by “youths.” There was a brawl at Castleton Square Mall last year (northeast side). Circle Center Mall (downtown) has had many problems and now has heavy security. Greenwood (southside) has had it’s issues, but since it’s in an adjoining county they have been kept under control. Washington Square is where the problems have been more significant.
The “youths” closed down Lafayette Square years ago. In fact, when we play euchre, you cannot mention “Lafayette Square” because it means you don’t have any red cards.
By the way, all the suburban malls Indy Go bus stops.
“the mall model was dead.”
Actually, it’s not simply on-line shopping, or all brick&mortar shops would be dead.
It’s because starting about 20 years ago people finally figured out that indoor malls (that is default what “mall” means now) are a PITA if all you want is a single thing. No one wants to park far outside, walk all the way into the center, just for one thing.
So now we’re swinging to easy-access stand-alone or (old) shopping center/strip mall mode again. Some are even replicating old towns with park-in-front (street) parking.
It’s the ease with which one can access for different purposes. As my husband says, malls are turning into apparel-only shopping OT1H, and “empty” OTOH. Nothing interesting in there anymore if you don’t want shoes or clothes.
“It’s ‘happening’ at 10202 E. Washington Street.”
I think that USED to be the Mall’s advertising jingle...
“What are the odds? A shooting at Target.”
I see what you did there!
But so far, they’ve been remarkable safe, LOL!
“WTHR”
What the hell Radio?

Yep,it happened to a couple around here in the Boston area.
I great new upscale shopping area opened about 3 years ago and I’m seeing early signs of trouble there-—and I’ve never been there at night.
.
We usually don’t return to places where I find myself (discreetly) playing with my holster thumb strap like a mall commando, and we didn’t go back. It was rough.
That’s too bad.

It was between conditions yellow and orange.
Standard procedure for those most shot and those typically most guilty of shooting their own ethnic tribe, but the media oddly hides the facts.
Good points; interesting you should mention shoes/clothes - probably the only things I wouldn’t buy online.
Lolz - a robbery happens every time Don’s Guns sells a gun.
How many MOA is a micro aggression?
obama planned it
The east side has been a violent, murder zone for decades. I haven’t been to that side of town since the ‘80’s.
