The ‘Science’ Is ‘Settled’: World Health Organization Says Meat Causes Cancer [Jude]
PJ Media ^ | 10/26/2015 | Michael Walsh

For now, it’s just processed meats. But you know they’re coming for that steak on your table and maybe even your Thanksgiving turkey or Christmas ham. Because fascists gotta do what fascists gotta do, and first they use “science” to get the ball rolling: Processed meats – such as bacon, sausages and ham – do cause cancer, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). Its report said 50g of processed meat a day – less than two slices of bacon – increased the chance of developing colorectal cancer by 18%. Meanwhile, it said red meats were “probably carcinogenic” but there was limited evidence.

But the WHO said meat did also have health benefits. Maybe that’s why human beings have been eating meat since the expulsion from the Garden of Eden. Meanwhile: Processed meat is meat that has been modified to increase its shelf-life or alter its taste – such as by smoking, curing or adding salt or preservatives. It is these additions which could be increasing the risk of cancer. “For an individual, the risk of developing colorectal (bowel) cancer because of their consumption of processed meat remains small, but this risk increases with the amount of meat consumed,” Dr Kurt Straif from the WHO said.

Remember –if it saves just one life… unless you’re talking abortion, in which case by all means murder away...

Haven’t heard any pseudo-scientific nonsense from the pseudo-climate scientists Mann, Jones and Hansen .... I guess they failed at real science and took a job as “food deniers” with WHO!!!

Sea food makes me puke until I have dry heaves. Soy is not compatible to those who have Hypothyroidism.

Sorry keep your tofu my doctor does not allow it, as it would make me sicker.

Dr Margaret Chan is the Director-General of WHO and was first appointed by the World Health Assembly on 9 November 2006.

Dr Margaret Chan, from the People’s Republic of China,

As of 2014, she is ranked as the 30th most powerful woman in the world according to Forbes.

Leader of the global health organization responsible for eradicating communicable diseases, including HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, and other vaccine-preventable diseases, Chan is widely viewed as having fallen flat in her efforts to combat Ebola. Last year the outbreak in West Africa took the lives more than 10,000 people, while an estimated 26,000 cases were reported around the globe. After issuing a mea culpa for inadequate action, WHO is preparing advanced contingency and intervention plans for possible future epidemics of this magnitude. A University of Western Ontario educated physician and Chinese native, Chan was first elected in 2006 and began a second five-year term in 2012.

On a global scale, the World Health Organization is Big Brother. Dr. Margaret Chan, the WHO’s director-general, is a confirmed skeptic. As she told China Daily last week– “I recommend that national governments ban, or at least regulate, them,” she said. (Elsewhere, Dr. Chan has opined that e-cigarettes should be regulated the same way cigarettes are regulated– even though they are not remotely equivalent in terms of harm.)

Chan officially became director general in early January 2007. In her first speech after taking the position, she outlined her specific goals of improving the health of people in Africa and of women around the world. “All regions, all countries, all people are equally important,” she stated, “but we must focus our attention on the people in greatest need.” In 2009, during an ongoing outbreak of swine flu that began in Mexico and subsequently spread to countries worldwide, Chan was confronted with the difficult task of assessing the potential global health impact of the disease. On June 11, 2009, following a series of meetings with an emergency committee from whom she sought scientific evidence on which to base her decision, Chan officially declared the swine flu outbreak a pandemic. It was the first pandemic to be declared since 1968.

Also, it was a rare-ish form of cancer that afflicts the very old.

And genetically mod veggies? Double up on that.. And live forever. If they genetically modify pigs too much, they will die.. So I am sticking with meat. Who believes the people who told us the Himalayas would melt by 2035? I believe glaciergate as much as I believe meat kills. I think being alive increases my mortality rate 100 percent, guess I should stop that too?

A lot of truth in your post. When folks say we shouldn't eat meat I tell them that we were instructed by God:

9 About noon the following day as they were on their journey and approaching the city, Peter went up on the roof to pray. 10 He became hungry and wanted something to eat, and while the meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance. 11 He saw heaven opened and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners. 12 It contained all kinds of four-footed animals, as well as reptiles and birds. 13 Then a voice told him, “Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.”

14 “Surely not, Lord!” Peter replied. “I have never eaten anything impure or unclean.”

15 The voice spoke to him a second time, “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.”

16 This happened three times, and immediately the sheet was taken back to heaven.

The main gist was that, under the New Covenant, many old rules/rituals no longer applied, but it was also a tacit approval of eating animals.

Now for a short public service announcement to all on FR:

I prefer Cruz and my money goes to his campaign, hence the Cruz link. If you like someone else, donate to him/her (find your own link to do it) and if you use FR and don't donate, then please don't complain about the welfare leeches or those who have Obama Phones because, functionally, you are no different than any other FReeloader.....

GO CRUZ!! Keep it up Trump!!

I’ll bet old age is ‘correlated’ with cancer.

The baseline risk for a 50 year old man for developing colorectal cancer over the next ten years is 0.68%.

An 18% increase in that risk brings it to the astonishingly larger factor of.... 0.80% - which is still less than the baseline odds faced at 60.

A stunning risk compared to giving up bacon.
