I've always thought the Northrop F-5/T-38 was a cool little plane. Stumbled upon this video and thought I'd post it.

Cool plane. Thanks for posting this. Was not real familair with this one.
Was always partial to the F-85 Saberjet myself; always thought if had the choice of one aircraft to pilot, it would be a Saber.

Believe that is the F-86 but you were close, unless it was just a typo since 5 is next to 6.

I’m partial to the P47. 8 50cals. I don’t think strafing Nazi’s would ever get old.

RE Typo:
You are indeed correct, it IS F86, and I typed F85!!!.
Combination of Fat Fingers and a few Blue Moon beers over here, and I thank you for the correction!!!!!!!!

P47:
The JUG!!!!!!!!!
Neat old plane. A flying brick sh*thouse... Rockets, too.
The Hawker Typhoon was also a nasty beast. Gave Kraut armor absolute HELL.
“Jabos” I believe they called them.

I thought I was the only person who thought that the F-5 just kept getting improved until it is now the Super Hornet.

Were the T-38 and F-20 both derived from the F-5?

I like watching old gun camera footage. Every once in a while the pilot hits the jackpot and gets a big surprise.

Years ago, in the movie “Top Gun”.... Those were F5s that they were using as “MiGs”.
And the commander was flying an A4 Skyhawk...

Wasn’t there a time - with the F4 Phantom II - that there were NO guns, only missiles on them???

Thought the f5 was called the tigershark. Thought they used them mainly as trainers.

In the early years of the Viet Nam War, the F4s did not have guns. The engineers and mechanics over there jury rigged cannon on them with a pop out propeller to supply power to run the gun.
Eventually they built them in at the factory which was more reliable.
