Please don't post large animated GIFs

This is a plea from those of us with limited bandwidth. This morning there was a touchdown animation that took about 2 minutes to load on my browser. It was in a thread that was completely unrelated to football or touchdowns. There are an increasing number of animated GIFs showing up that are either unrelated to the topic or superfluous.

Videos like youtube links are automatically blocked from loading until you ask to load them. Those are great and I select a few to click and load. Links to animated GIFs could be replaced with a single frame GIF of the same content although only in some cases.

Animated GIFs are downloaded whether I want them to be or not to be downloaded. Obviously a very large high res static GIF might also chew up some BW, But an animated GIF even medium or low res can have lots of frames and take lots of bandwidth to download. It can be the same (in BW terms) as loading the thread with hundreds of low-res pictures. If someone knows a way to stop those kinds of downloads in Safari, I would like to know that too.

For the record...I didn’t see the pic that was removed, but I have no problem with pics of beautiful women posted for the men. Y’all are visual creatures, after all.

I’ll also say that we ladies have eyes, too, and you won’t see me complaining when someone posts a pic of a hot male.

When posting any image-—large or small—Its courteous to post it to yourself so folks don’t have to scroll past image after image on their feeds.

There is a little X that you can click on that tells the browser to stop loading stuff. On firefox the little X is right next to the URI window there the http:// stuff is.

My one objection are the pics of that libtard NYT’s writer, (MoDo) - please update - she has aged, just like that former libtard BF of her’s from decades past, Michael Douglas, who’s been through and is now divorced from that beautiful wife who was once his.

Dearest donna, I’m very sorry and I apologize to you right here, because you took my comments to wardddy personally. I included you in my post because you were listed and you were also a subject of wardaddy’s post to me.

I personally skip right past photos of near naked women and any other graphic, photo or “lusting” image - those are not turn-on’s for me. Sometimes I don’t RACE BY the images of SOME shirtless men, however. :)

Surely you must know and realize that “men will be men” and that means “some of our men here” likely “look” or “wait” for the opportunities to post those locker room photos or images to entertain other guys or maybe to get a reply like yours from one or more of us.

I’ve now been sent that deleted image and agree with you, donna, that it is rather stupid, but I would have ignored it. I would not have seen this thread, but for my pings to it.
