What Was the Most CONSERVATIVE TV Show (non-political)?
Self | October 16, 2017 | PJ-Comix

The other day I was watching a rerun of a popular TV show from the past. Suddenly it occurred to me that this was the most CONSERVATIVE TV show ever despite the fact that it wasn't specifically a political show.

Okay, I'll give you the name: DRAGNET. I was watching the color version that came back to the airwaves in 1967. Detective Joe Friday didn't fool around. He was all business with NO apologies in enforcing the law. Also notable was how he sneered at hippies, drug addicts, or (in the case of the episode I was watching) idiotic teenyboppers who shoplifted strictly to be members of a dopey club.

if we are down to individual characters, with no doubt the most conservative current character is Sheldon’s mom. She is an East Texas Dyed in the Wool Christian conservative. One wonders what her FReeper name is.

Growing up, a kid lived a few blocks away, but he went to private school.

He was the out-of-wedlock son of James Arness.

Craig Aurness, was his name. He became a photographer, but is now deceased.

No. Donnie wall erg is ok. It’s that the others esp the dad should have a ny accent. Donnie wahlbergs problem on the show is that they won’t put him with a good partner a good actor. Jennifer Esposito was the most excellent character. I watch it every week vainly hoping they’ll get her back on

Just like when they insanely pulled Kate Warner out of 24. That was in sane

They tried to replace her many times with a girl. Tgey finally found one that will do but she is not a good character and she is a weak actress wall erg needs a strong opposite

That’s the problem

In ny you can have one kid with a stronger accent it depends on who he hangs with growing up and then working in high school. But Tom select should have greeter hair and less of a pot belly and a lot more energy

He’s fine. He needs a strong character to play opposite. When I watch reruns I won’t watch anything beyond 2011, when they very stupidly dropped Jennifer Esposito.

Also wahlberg made an outstanding out takes video of season one.

It took 96 post for someone to hit it right.

Perry Mason. The whole shows idea was, that Justice would be done, not, how many times could Perry get the criminal free.

And Burger would HELP him prove his client innocent when the evidence was shown, not, try to cover it up.

The bad guys died, the good guys were set free (most times) and we hardly ever found out about the character’s personal life. It was the STORY that was important.

What was very striking about it was it was the only show with such ratings at the time that treated having served in Vietnam as honorable.

I agree with “Green Acres” and “Dick Van Dyke” show, but haven’t seen the other two. Didn’t they dump “Green Acres” even though it had high ratings because it was too conservative?

Don’t know. But I do know that Green Acres was one of the best written. Now that someone above has mentioned Barney Miller, I want to add that in my opinion that was THE best written sitcom of all time. And it stands as a time capsule of the mid to late seventies.

I have told this before, but I still think it’s hilarious.
When my husband was a kid he asked his dad,how come Paladin doesn’t have a first name.
His dad said “Yeah he does”. Don’t you see it on the card?
His first name is “Wire”.

The weird thing about "Gunsmoke" was that it featured a saloon whorehouse run by Miss Kitty.

Wrong. Saloon girls weren't generally whores. They sat and talked or danced with the customers, and kept them drinking. Saloons were in the good part of town. Brothels were usually separate businesses, often separated from the good part of town by the railroad ("on the wrong side of the tracks").

I watched “Little House on the Prairie” long ago. I believe it was conservative. “Law & Order” started out initially as reasonably conservative, then turned was left.
