.@JebBush, At the debate you said your brother kept us safe- I wanted to be nice & did not mention the WTC came down during his watch, 9/11.

So they built a little bit of it for show. The parts of the border I have seen do not have a fence like that. The Republican Party’s 2012 platform states that “The double-layered fencing on the border that was enacted by Congress in 2006, but never completed, must finally be built.” If the fence is all done, why was that part of the Republican platform? It has not been completed since 2012, so why post the picture?
I have always thought GWB dropped the ball. The WTC was a terrorist target long before he was sworn into office. He did not appear to take terrorist threats seriously until the big one hit.
How many of us who were in favor of the Patriot Act when Bush was president have grown to regret that it was ever instituted? It will be used to destroy the very liberties it was allegedly designed to protect.
GWB was not perfect. He was a GOPe elitist to the max. He had to destroy capitalism to save it. Remember that?
I agree. I doubt any President, at that point in out history, would have been able to foresee and prevent 9/11. If anyone is to blame, it’s Clinton for not fighting Al Qaeda forcefully enough on his watch, when he had the opportunity.
“Dubya made it safer for us all...”
No, he didn’t.
You don’t have to hold W responsible for failing to prevent 9/11 to acknowledge that he bungled the response. Prioritizing the Saudis obr Americans, the disastrous Iraq war, the failure to bring Bin Laden to justice.
W talked a good game, but made us exponentially less safe.
9/11 was not W’s fault. While Trump didn’t directly blame W. the inference was there.
Trump could have “restrained” from using the 9/11 terrorist attack as an “attack” on Jeb.
He could have simply talked about the things that could have been done differently then and now to keep us safe.
A statement of logic and common sense is not a “nice try” - it was a statement of logic and common sense. Jeb Bush is now back in the news with something legitimate. That is potentially not a good thing - unless you want Jeb Bush to regain some attention and traction when he was previously fading away. He could not win the general election - he would have a ceiling of support, even if some generic polls may show him “leading” in the mid 40s - use your noggin. He would not be a good nominee.
So what you are saying is that Clinton should have seen it coming, but Bush couldn't possibly have had a clue as to the intentions of Al Qaeda for the 9 months he was president before it happened?
Why didn't Bush fight Al Qaeda for the 9 months he was president before 911 happened?
Really - your comments here have always been your views?

Like I said five seconds before Trump said this, had they been uttered by anyone else - you would have denounced them.
“Wrong, Cruz is a proven fighter against the left and the GOP collaborators.’
He is a proven *talker* against them, nothing more.
“And he risked a lot more personally by doing it than Trump did.”
What? What did he risk? Seriously, what did he ever risk? Are the demonrats going to shoot him? Is he going to lose his cushy sinecure as a senator?
Trump plays with his *own* money, and has risked more in a single day than Cruz will ever see.
It baffles me that so many people are blind to the weakness in Cruz’s face.
What was definitelya low blow was when GWB, during his first State of the union address, like some f’n mullah, foolishly claimed that Islam was a ROP and that the place erupted in applause. That’s when I realized that America was in deep, deep sh*t. I am even more convinced of it 13 years later.
“I’m a war president. I make decisions here in the Oval Office in foreign policy matters with war on my mind.”
~ GW Bush, War President
Sounds like a little kid talking about cowboys and indians.
Trump needs to let this one go.
It is a cliche to say that Bush kept us safe. He kept us safe only after 3000 Americans were killed. Then he himself instituted rules against profiling muslims and Arabs which we can only thank God were not exploited during his watch.
I liken it to a relief pitcher who lets all of the inherited runners score while not giving up any runs on his own.
What crap. ‘Everyone’ knows no such thing. This thread proves that.
If you want to make apologies for liberals, you picked the right place as there are plenty of liberals around lately to back you up.
‘Reality’ is the words he spoke. And they were a lie.
Wrong answer McFry. Bush had his share of screw ups, but the WTC wasn't one of them. That was a result of eight solid years of Leftist double-mindedness, deliberate weakening of the intelligence community, hand wringing, inaction, and show of weakness and indecision in the face of increasing attacks by al Queda and knowledge of bin Laden under the Bill Clinton watch. The jihadists didn't realize the watch had changed but they soon found out when Bush retaliated in force in Afghanistan and the jihadists went running into their caves.
Not to mention that the Clinton administration didn’t transition information, especially intel information properly over to President Bush’s administration. People seem to forget that...
It also showed where GW’s heart lies. He was certainly pro Saudi.
Saur Krauthammer actually said on Fox this comment is another stroke of genius from Trump’s reality show style to recapture the news cycle in his favor. It worked before and it’ll work again this time as well. He knows when to drop another bomb on the media. I knew one was due this week.
