Yet another bad new Zero-Day (already exploited) Adobe Flash vulnerability.
Time to uninstall Flash from all your computers and keep it off for good!
 To remove Flash from Windows:
   - Close your browser
- In Control Panel -> Programs and Features, remove/uninstall all Adobe Flash or Shockwave items.
- Restart your browser
- Go to Add-ons/Plugins and confirm there are no Shockwave or Flash plugins.
To remove Flash from OS X (10.6 and later):
   - Download and run this Flash uninstaller: http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/support/uninstall_flash_player_osx.dmg
To remove Flash from Linux:
   - Close your browser
- Use "apt-get remove", "yum erase", or find the flashplayer .so (e.g. in /usr/lib[64]/mozilla/plugins or ~/.mozilla/plugins) and remove it.
- Restart your browser
- Go to Add-ons/Plugins and confirm there are no Shockwave or Flash plugins.
Note that Google Chrome has its own integrated Flash plugin that CANNOT be removed; it can only be disabled. Ref.:

    Why is Adobe still around?
It would appear that their software is equivalent to Dorkbama the Muslim’s foreign policy, economic policy, and intelligence.

Or you could always add any of the myriad Flash blockers available for Firefox and/or Chrome. If you’ve ever browsed the Internet without Flash, you’ll quickly notice how much the web relies on it. Sad, really.

I thought you needed Adobe Flash on Windows 7 on Mozilla, Google Chrome, and Internet Explorer to run stuff.
Can you go back to a previous version or is there some kind of fix in the works?

An Adobe Flash security problem. What a surprise. BTT

To: rarestia
Flash isn’t needed like it used to be. Most major video plugins are utilizing HTML5 and don’t need Flash anymore. Months ago I realized YouTube could play without Flash and uninstalled it immediately. I haven’t looked back since.

I thought you needed Adobe Flash on Windows 7 on Mozilla, Google Chrome, and Internet Explorer to run stuff. Not really. 99% of the use of Flash these days is for advertising of the obnoxious type. Most legit websites have migrated to HTML5.

ALL versions of Flash for ALL platforms are vulnerable to this one.
Adobe waved their hands and vaguely hinted they'd try to come up with something sometime next week. But pretty much everyone has lost patience.

There’s a lot more at play than just YouTube, but I don’t disagree.

I browse the internet with FlashBlock and you know what? There's really not that much other than ads that still use it.
Flash has just gotta go. This is just too freakin' much.
Adobe makes a laughingstock of all the other security measures we take -- antivirus, Windows updates, etc. What good is all that, if we put a plugin in our browser that spreads our computer's legs for all the world to have at?

You have anything to add to this? easy ways to disable/remove Flash? is this really a problem for OS X?
About the only reason I use Flash is for the marvelous weatherspark.com site.

So it gets uninstalled and nothing works, then what? "Nothing works"? Nah,
You'll find that a lot of obnoxious ads don't work. No loss there.
You'll find that a few sites won't display rich content (e.g. videos) that rely on Flash and aren't yet updated to use HTML5. However, these are fewer every day. The internet has mostly converted to HTML5 already.
One holdout will likely be games written in Flash that only run in Flash. Oh well, take your choice. But Flash is nearly dead and already falling over, so you and the games writers better get ready for the crash.

See what I wrote at the top of the thread as the "article". It has a link to the OS X Flash uninstaller.
