FOXBORO Its Colts week. Finally.
Patriots quarterback Tom Brady gets his chance to exact revenge on the organization that sparked the controversy that nearly resulted in his four-game suspension for the Deflategate scandal arising out of last Januarys AFC title game.
Although Bradys NFL-imposed suspension was overturned in federal court by Judge Richard Berman on Sept. 3, before he had to sit out a single game, its fair to conclude that Brady would have a little extra motivation Sunday night in Indianapolis.
If so, Brady wasnt revealing it during his weekly press conference yesterday at Gillette Stadium.
Prodded one reporter: Isnt there any human part of you that wants it a little extra this week?
Im a human, Brady said. Theres no doubt. Im definitely human.
Then thats established. Brady is a human.
Hes just one who would prefer to sound like a robot on this topic.
Im always pretty motivated, he said. Itll be an exciting game. I know theyve got a good team. Theyve won three straight. They made some changes this offseason, so theyre a very confident team. So its going to take a great effort to beat them, so well work hard at practice today, over the next few days, hopefully get us prepared, and then go out and try to beat a good team on the road on Sunday night.
Still, with a game of this magnitude, one has to think that maybe, just maybe, even someone as unflappable as Brady could be thrown off his game. This is, after all, the team that caused his offseason to be embroiled in a courtroom drama and his integrity to be questioned.
So, wont it be a little tougher to remain focused?
Well, I try certainly, to be a professional with how I approach every week, Brady said. I said (Monday) you really put a lot into it every week no matter who youre playing because all these games are important. All of them are hard to win. All of them have good players. Theyre all pros. Theyve got pro coaches, and theyve got good schemes.
All great humans in Indianapolis, no doubt, but pressed further on his motivation, Brady remained steadfast.
Well, like I said, Im always pretty motivated regardless of the opponent, regardless of the team or the week, whether its a preseason game, whether its a regular-season game, he said. Theyre all important because there are so few of those where you get an opportunity in your life, so I dont take it for granted. I think its exciting to go out there and do something that I love to do, to go out there and do it with teammates who I love to play with. We all put a lot of effort in, the coaches, players, so its another opportunity for us to go out there and see if we can be a good football team.
Maybe it just means something to the fans, fellow humans who undoubtedly will be highly emotional about it.
Im not sure (if it means more to the fans), Brady said. As a player, I think youre just . . . like I said, theyre a very good team, and its a challenge to play them on the road. Weve been there a few times. Theyve got a good team. Theyve won three straight, so it will be a tough game.
And hopefully, were at our best.
The Pats like to crush the souls of ALL their opponents equally. Including Goodell.
Pats, 53-3.
The Pats play football like Muslims play moderates.......................
Now the Twitter mob is busy frothing at the mouth over a baseball player flipping his bat after a home run.
Good thing we aren't being led by a socialist into economic collapse and WW3....
(Nothing better to talk about)
Gee whiz, too bad. Go get a quote from Greg Hardy or Terrell Owens.
Continued hatred towards the best team in history of football. Great. Congratulations for being nasty. Patriots is America’s team.
Yeah. Married to the most gorgeous woman in the World is just torture for him. The jealousy you show is sad.
And Tom Brady doesn’t have a Peewee Herman tattoo.
That was actually a compliment..................
LOL!
I was going to ask, but decided, 'Naah - no way'... But thanks for the confirmation.
He only talks like an idiot once in a while.
There is no way anyone on a Belicheck teams is going to talk crap before a game.
They will do their talking Sunday. If they lose, they go back to work Monday and think about next week.
I know a lot of people hate Brady, Bill, and the Pats. But even the most ardent hater has to respect the old style cool of no trash talking.
It’s non-productive and can be embarrassing if you lose.........................
The way the Colts have been playing this should be a ‘walk-in-the-park’ for The Pats and Brady. A high school QB could probably beat the Colts this week. LOL
Hasselbeck looked pretty good last week......................
Brady is their daddy. He owns the Colts. He’s going to spank them, hard.
Maybe, but there’s always the ‘Any Given Sunday’ Rule.......................
Brady has just strung together four of his finest consecutive wins since he first started. He’s looking as good as ever. If you didn’t see him spike the ball after his qb sneak on the goal line for a touchdown last game, the only way to describe it is to say he out-gronked Gronk.
