This week our daughter is on vacation in Istanbul. I am excited for her to be able to travel to such a historical place, but at the same time am worried sick. I'm not going to sleep well until I hear that she has landed safely in NYC.
We are keeping in touch via Whatapp (an app that lets you text from anywhere there is wifi and won't charge international rates). She is enjoying the sites, getting the hang of how to travel about the city and even sampling some "weird food".
What prompted her to go to Turkey? Her good friend, Denisa, made plans to visit and plane tickets were cheap!
It would be appreciated if you would please say a prayer for their safety.
TCMS prayer request for Rebecca & Denisa.
Prayers up for a fun visit and safe return. My mother and her friends have been to Turkey.
God Bless, safe travels for them.
God’s Peace be with you.
I was on Istanbul this past June on a cruise. The city is great; it’s very historical and the setting is outstanding. Most women don’t wear head scarves and you don’t get that feeling that you’re in an Islamic state.
It was actually much cleaner than Athens and the economy seems more vibrant.
I pity the Turkish fool who messes with the Beaker.
Also you should get her to bring back some nice birds for Thanksgiving direct from the factory outlet.
I am so glad for the messenger app to hear from her often and prayers she stays safe.
O almighty and merciful God, Who hast commissioned Thy angels to guide and protect us, command them to be our assiduous companions from our setting out until our return; to clothe us with their invisible protection; to keep us from all danger of collision, of fire, of explosion, of falls and bruises; and finally, having preserved us from all evil, and especially from sin, to guide us to our heavenly home. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
(From a 19th Century Prayer)
I understand perfectly your concerns. I know of a young couple who recently visited Turkey and I was worried until they were back home. They had a great time. What they told me is that Turkey still values their tourism industry and gets a lot of visitors. The areas of concern because of Islam are the more rural areas. Regardless, the girls need to keep aware. I said a prayer for their safety and for you too.
Prayers for her safe journey.
My task should I have agreed to accept it, was to pray for your daughter and her friend’s safe return home.
I did. I have.
All the best to you.
Should some Turkish fool defy God's will, Gunner and Shibumi will immediately initiate a replay of "Zaphoroske Cossacks versus Mehmet IV."
Yes, ma’am. Done.
you may count me in on best wishes for your daughters safety
Best Regards

My god Bless your daughter with safe travels and a return in good health. In Jesus’ name . Amen.
Praying now.
Your family is in our prayers.
And should be safe.
I've taught my girls to be professional and polite, but have a plan to kill everyone you meet.
Your a good Dad....:o)
Thanks all for your prayers & comments. I feel a bit better.
