he Washington Nationals have been mired in turmoil over the past week, but Max Scherzer made the pain of dugout brawls and clubhouse chaos disappear Saturday night as he twirled his second no-hitter of the season in a 2-0 win over the New York Mets at Citi Field.
Scherzer's the second pitcher to record two no-hitters in the regular season since 1973. The other, according to B/R Insights, is Nolan Ryan.
Washington's ace recorded 17 strikeouts in the winseven more than he notched in his no-hit effort on June 20 against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The 17 strikeouts also tied Ryan for the most in a no-hitter since 1900, per ESPN Stats & Info, which also noted Scherzer is the only player in MLB history to throw two no-hitters without allowing a walk (a hit-by-pitch and an error kept the outings from being perfect games).

When they first got him I saw some of the ‘highlights’ and didn’t ‘like’ all the snarling etc...I was likening it to the outlandish beards etc.......
What I would ‘love’ to see the Nats do next year is show up at camp - all EARLY - ready to work out from day one, clean shaven - concentrate on winning ball games, not worry about whose hair is the longest or who has the ‘coolest’ beard.
I would also like to see FP change cities....his ‘he is just 3 homers short of 20’, and the constant ‘kids don’t try this at home ..etc..’ is and has been wearing thing. I did like Dibble BUT he got canned for telling it like it should be told..
FP gives all the pointers out for what the youngsters at home should do but acts surprised when a fielder throws or a runner runs on a supposed foul ball which isn’t foul until the blue crew says so....
Was glad to see Bryce hit that homer (1st game) ... he would have been in ‘trouble’ for his public statement that he was pulling for the Mets in playoffs (because of division) but if he had worn the collar for the series or made an error that allowed the Mets to win AND put them ahead of Dodgers for home field....
He sat 2nd game but I really don’t think he is wired to sit there and back into a batting or home run title.
He did take quite a shot to his bad knee though...
The injury is only part of the story for Verlander. He hasn’t been the same since he started dating Kate Upton.
I’d be willing to bet Max is the only pitcher with one brown eye and one blue eye to throw two no hitters in a single season.
Magic number of ONE on Sunday for the following teams:
TEX (DIV)
HOU (wildcard)
NYY (host wildcard)
KC (#1 seed)
PITT (host wildcard)
TEX would host the Monday tiebreaker game vs HOUS.
HOUS would host the Monday tiebreaker game vs LAA.
if:
NYY 87-75
TEX 87-75
HOU 87-75,
then NYY will be the visitor on TUES in wildcard (vs. Monday loser).
if the Angels beat the Rangers again, there will be a tie and a Monday tiebreaker game of some sorts in the state of Texas.
Sunday TEX/LAA game at 3pm is on TBS.
: ) Who would be? It was the summer of '69 and I was home from my 5 wins 0 losses 0.89 E.R.A. year at Central Michigan University (freshman team), when I discovered something I liked more than baseball. I never went back. I was never the same. (true story
and her name was Kathy)
Max Scherzer's Two Rigged No Hitters of the 2015 Season, June 20 & October 3, 2015another guy (I guess) had a vid in June, claiming that Max's first no-hitter was proof that Zionists run baseball. :'D Next thing ya know, a pitcher will refuse to pitch on Yom Kippur! ;')
WOW ‘Civ. That is some wild stuff (I just got home from work about 45 minutes ago). I’ve never heard of any of that even that word “gematria”. Thank you very much. Very interesting.
They coollapsed right into the division title.
Undoubtedly.
