College Tuition and Fees constitute one of the biggest threats to our economic outlook. Here is a chart of data from the relevant Consumer Price Index sub-component reaching back to 1978, the earliest year Uncle Sam provides a breakout for College Tuition and Fees. As an interesting sidebar, we've thrown in the increase in the cost of purchasing a new car as well as the more substantial increase for the broader category of medical care, both of which pale in comparison.

Govt pays large sums to liberals in universities, through the students.
The money changes hands and votes are bought.
Students are left holding the debt....unless they are forgiven, in which case the taxpayer holds the bag.
Nice scheme if you can tap into it.
The parabolic rise coincides with Obama regime in charge. So there is a lot of truth in what you are saying.
.It is time to flush out the nest, with a fire hose.
In addition, students are indoctrinated into leftist thinking, which also creates votes for the Democrat party and perpetuates the system.
perpetual motion machine, so to speak.
Jefferson acknowledged that the states would have to amend the Constitution to grant Congress the specific power to tax and spend for intrastate schooling purposes.
The great mass of the articles on which impost is paid is foreign luxuries, purchased by those only who are rich enough to afford themselves the use of them. Their patriotism would certainly prefer its continuance and application to the great purposes of the public education, roads, rivers, canals, and such other objects of public improvement as it may be thought proper to add to the constitutional enumeration of federal powers [emphasis added]. Thomas Jefferson: 6th Annual Message, 1806.
On the other hand, the Washington cartel gives financial assistance to students without the constitutional consent of the states, presumably to win votes from low-information students.
The ill-conceived 17th Amendment needs to disappear, and corrupt senators who dont do their job to protect the states as evidenced by their helping the corrupt House to pass unconstitutional student funding bills as well.
many students are students only because they can get these student loans, otherwise they’d have to be out there in the job market (and there are so few jobs in the Obama Great Recession... they know their chances there would be near zero... especially trying to compete with all of Obama’s foreigners ... who have (statistically) gotten all the jobs for the last several years under Obama, anyway)
easier to just hang around campuses ‘on credit’................ and wait for Obama to ‘cancel your debts’ (!!!!) or anyway you dont plan to repay them anyway so what’s the diff?
The rise on th graph coincides with ACA - it took over the student loan system in the country.
Free market!
When it comes to academia there is no such thing as a “free market.” No need to for the government ensures that the “education industry” is free of all restraints of that horrible spectre.
Next, the question is “why does everyone need to go to college?” Exactly what does a college education entail? During the first years it does not actually address the field that the student will use for the rest of his/her life but instead topics like music appreciation, gender history, and many, many “studies” that have absolutely nothing to do with the production of highly proficient (not educated in matters not related directly to their endeavors) graduates who have a special “needed” skill to immediately enter the workforce and actually produce a needed skill or service for mankind.
It used to be back in the 50’s and 60’s that if you did not graduate from high school it was very hard to get a good job. Now, a general education from a college is the equivalent of a 50-60’s education and costs far more than any justifiable or reasonable price for the “product.”
The entire educational system in America has morphed from one of the best in the world to nothing more than a government controlled socialist experiment that is failing miserably.
It’s not about educating any longer...it’s about FAIRNESS!
Many students remain students because they can’t find good jobs. They hope by getting more and more degrees, their value in the marketplace will be enhanced.
One of my daughter’s good friends graduated from an Ivy League university with a degree in computer science. She still has no job after 4 months of search.
yes, if they stay in school long enough perhaps, just maybe, we can recover from Obama’s Great Recession and get some jobs for people again
maybe
