On September 24, Pope Francis scolded Congress for guns and weapons which are manufactured in America and sold around the world.
He said he was determined to minimize and, in the long term, to end the many armed conflicts throughout our world, as he addressed the billion-dollar sales from American companies that he sees as a contributing factor to conflicts abroad.
According to The Intercept, Pope Francis said:
Here we have to ask ourselves: Why are deadly weapons being sold to those who plan to inflict untold suffering on individuals and society? Sadly, the answer, as we all know, is simply for money: money that is drenched in blood, often innocent blood. In the face of this shameful and culpable silence, it is our duty to confront the problem and to stop the arms trade.
U.S. manufacturers make tens of billions cumulativelyThe Intercept cites a figure of $23.7 billion in 2014 alonefrom guns and weapons that are sold to nearly 100 different countries. The sales have surged to record levels under Obama, due in part to taxpayer subsidized sales to Israel and Egypt and huge shipments to Gulf States, particularly Saudi Arabia. And Saudi Arabia has subsequently been criticized for using cluster bombs and other munitions
to hit densely populated areas, schools, and even a camp for displaced people in Yemen. These are some of the things that appear to be behind Pope Franciss statements on this issue.

My impression of this pope is that he's simple-minded. He seems to be warm-hearted, but his thinking behind the public policy positions he holds is shallow at best.
There's no comparison between his speeches and those of Mother Theresa when she visited the White House in the '90s.
Mark 3:27
Indeed, no one can enter a strong man's house to steal his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man.
When does he leave? I’ve pretty much had my fill of hom. And I’m Catholic.
At least his theology is 100% correct!
I believe he knows exactly what he is doing.
I was wondering how many guns they had. He has guards but the “little people” can not defend themselves. Hypocrite.
“If Wikipedia is correct (I know), They use Sig Sauer P220, Glocks, Steyr TMP, or H&K MP-5.”
Isn’t the H&K MP-5 designed to kill as many people as quickly as possible? Why in the world does the Pope need guns that hold more than zero rounds?
Then this is the spirit of anti-Christ Jesus and the Apostles — especially John — warned against.
