Back when Steve Jobs was in high school his partner in their garage venture, Steve Wozniak, built a bomb looking thing from a metronome and brought it to high school. He was arrested, spent a night in jail, but never got invited to the White House.
For a science project, while in high school, in the early/mid 70s, my son built a radio from scratch. Right, there was no cover on it like you buy a radio, so, in today’s world, it would look like it might be a bomb. If he built that today, I think it would be a problem.
Another year, for another science class, he grew hydroponic plants. In today’s world, maybe someone would mistake that for growing marijuana. :o)
