Artists cheer the new Apple Pencil stylus
CNN Money ^ | September 10, 2015 | by Jose Pagliery

Apple unveiled a new iPad Pro and stylus on Wednesday, and professional artists are ecstatic.

The Apple Pencil is pressure sensitive. Press lightly, and the stroke gets thinner. Tilt the pencil, and the stroke gets thicker. Pair it with an iPad Pro, and there's finally an Apple (AAPL, Tech30) device to replace paper sketchbooks.

College students can balance this on a knee when doing sketches at an art museum. Comic book artists can finally work from the couch. Sure, electronic drawing pads already exist. But the best ones are bulky and stay at the desk. And until now, artists using iPads to draw were forced to buy a third-party stylus that was unreliable, with delayed reaction times between the stylus and screen and inaccurate drawing strokes.

David Macy is an artist at Adobe who tested the iPad-Pencil pairing sometime before this week's announcement. He told CNNMoney that he was impressed by the iPad's ability to quickly switch between programs, carrying files from one to another.

And the stylus-tablet communication is seamless, he said.

Wow, you really have a way with people. You really know how to make friends..... Nothing like a good first impression.

Sten has a history on Apple threads, Bullish.

Or did you just overlook the slur he tossed in to "iPad people" in general about "finger paints and crayons"?

I saw that. What are you an Apple protector or something? Don’t be so touchy, it seemed he was just making a little joke. Why do you take it so personally?

I really wanted to like that new super sized iPad Pro but it looks like its not worth the rip-off prices..... But I can see brainwashed doctors, dentists and urban gays buying them. An advertising campaign featuring some dancing gyrating trannies like Bruce Jenner would help.

Swords not rude, just gets tired of the same ole crap from folks that hate anything Apple, I have always wondered why they always crash these threads with their endless drivel.
This list was setup to give notice to Apple users of new items or news.

I maintain the Apple Ping List of over 700 of our fellow Freepers who are interested in news about Apple stuff and we are tired of the slurs and insults from the minority of the TROLLS who make it a practice to come into every Apple thread and start slinging insults and throwing spit wads. Sten is one. There's another one posting his malicious lies on this thread already. He's a repeat offender from way back. Their purpose is to make the threads unpalatable for anyone to enjoy.

How long has Samsung’s Note had a stylus? Yeah, its been years with the Note 1 even. Glad to see Apple finally saw the light, even with Samsung being ahead of the curve.

Considering that Apple came out with the first tablet computer worthy of being a consumer product in 1993 and it had a stylus, that kind of trumps your curve by twenty years or so. however, the Apple Pencil is no dumb stylus like what Samsung S Pen is. Take a look at the demos attached to this article I just posted and you'll see.

Hand on review of Apple Pencil on the iPad Pro with video demos.

Yea, they have, and a graphic artist said it was $#!t in comparison. Big, clunky, and the lag time..... And of course, tethered to the computer.

“iPad Pro is like the first Surface RT from years ago… it runs a limited OS, has very small storage space of only 128 GB max, and minimal processor power. Surface Pro 3 (and the upcoming Pro 4) have full OS, larger storage space and MicroSD, very powerful i7 processor, lots of RAM, and ability to install millions of programs like any other Windows PC,” wrote erasure 025.
The iPad ‘Pro’ is overpriced by about $400. It’s the equivalent of an upgraded Surface RT, and only diehard apple fanboys who don’t care about bang for the buck will pony up retail price for it,” loose_screw responded.

Uh, no, DennisW, The iPad Pro sports 5.9 million pixels compared to the MS Surface's mere 3.1 million. The iPad's screen resolution alone is almost twice as high and it's also thinner and lighter than the Surface despite offering a larger screen. It's not over priced. The complaint about storage is bogus as well, as the iPad easily connects to unlimited storage on the cloud, the user's Mac, and other devices in the Apple ecosystem. The comment about the Surface having 32Gb of memory doesn't count the space used up by the OS and Apps which took almost 50% of that space on the Surface but no where near that on the iPad.

Never fails. Applebots insult a fantastic, long fuctional and ever improved piece of technology; yet at the same time claim it as their own, with the logo, price, and namebrand being its selling points.

Throwing pixels at a problem has been standard Apple FUD even since Steve Jobs passed away. They throw the pixels and fanBots throw their money down the drain. These days the only early adopter fanbots out there are trust fund babies and other bored urbanites. The Chinese are tapped out so can only buy the cheaper Xiaomi tablets, fones and devices. Xiaomi rules in all second tier Asian nations such as Thailand and Vietnam. Look for a big dip this week in AAPL reflecting this.

I am not sure whom I get more tired of hearing from - M$ trolls or stock “analysts” that push AAPL down knowing that it will rebound strongly after the public can buy the new products.

Funny, I didn't hear one of the analysts note that rose gold 6s and 6s Pro is totally sold out in Hong Kong. Sure China sales may take a hit this month but buyers flocking to HK may push the sales curve up even more than Apple can deliver.

And Christmas sales and Valentine Day sales haven't even started in Asia.

Thanks for your threads.

The same way I've always wondered why the Macophiles always crashed PC threads.

Show us a Windows thread where an Apple Mac user has insulted a Windows user. PLEASE. I don't think you can find one. . . I did an in depth study of both types of threads on FreeReublic several years ago and the difference was stark. The number of attacks, insults and slurs in Apple threads from Windows users outnumber anything even mildly negative the other way in Windows threads by 19:1. And the level of vitriol was overwhelmingly worse.

What was "insulting" about what was said about the Wacom system? It's tethered to a computer as a mere input device? True. At this type of drawing directly on a screen and resolution, it's more expensive? True. How are those FACTS an insult to an inanimate device? Frankly, you are the one who doesn't seem to know what you are talking about.

Oh, baloney. There are many threads where Mac users would say “That’s what you get for buying a PC.” Please...!
