‘He said.’ What do his doctors say?

It can happen. Happened to me with a crush injury. He is very lucky, however he is in for a lot of severe pain and rehab.
Two years ago in May I had my surgery. I'm just now back to almost 100 percent. I'm not sure about the full recovery. Depending on the break, he will have some loss of strength on his upper extremities, particularly on one side. It may not be noticeable to the people around him, but he sure as heck will know.

My neck was broken over 25 years by a guy who didn’t see a stop sign and hit me doing 60 miles an hr. I have had major healing thank you Jesus but still have neck issues everyday.

The technology and methods have changed a lot. It is major surgery, however it is now a 23 hour admission and there may be a good neurosurgeon specializing in the new methods around. No one should be suffering neck issues now. If it was me, I would look into it.

Lucky to be alive, considering the power of those waves.

With his luck he will go back surfing and get eaten by a shark.

Ok thank you I will talk to my Dr about it, but it may be that because my injury extents to the brain stem C1 thru C4 that it is inoperable, that is what I was told years ago, too dangerous to operate there. Maybe that has changed. Thanks for taking the time to suggest this.
