My entire point here is I believe the evidence, circumstantial and not is more than enough to show culpability on Brady’s part. I woupd have had no problem with a fine, but I believe Goodell, who does bidding of the owners felt the more harsh punishment for Pats and Brady was necessary because of their history of less than stellar behaviour.
The Colts didn’t hand the punishment to the Pats. It seems you are confused about hiw this all went down. Suggest you read Wells Report and follow up Goodell as well as Bermen’s removal of suspension.

I still can't imagine why under-inflated balls would help you throw the ball better. Maybe it's all a crock.
But even if it is, so what? The rule books says the maximum punishment for that crime is a $25k fine. The rule book considers it a nothing rule, right up there with a uniform violation. If Goodell really thought violating that rule deserved harsh punishment he should have taken that up with the rules committee. Even now, 7 months, 1 $3 million investigation, and 1 rather embarrassing court case later, that rule still lists maximum punishment as a $25k fine.

Oh no. Congress did that years before any air was let out of any footballs in a stupid game.
The judge was not going to mitigate the penalty. That was clear from the begining. The only thing Brady was trying to do was get the suspension lifted.
It was an all or nothing, yes or no, black or white, decision.
People are acting like the judge had any discretion in this matter.
I wish people would read beyond the headlines on these things.
Oh, the whole spygate. Most people who are really aware of how the NFL works are not really aware of what happened in the infamous Spygate.
The Pats recorded the practice from the field level. That was a violation of the rules. The rules allowed them to film from the stadium level.
They broke the rule by literally three or four feet.
Yes they broke the rules. And they paid for it.
But you guys really need to relax.
I am just happy this social media crap was not around when Russell and Cousy were winning all of those NBA titles. The hate would have been unbearable.

No. This whole thing started in the post season against the Colts and was in the last game before the SB.
The harshness of the penalty was due to the Pats past history of controversy as well us not being vooperative in this investigation.
Brady admitted to obstruction and said he would agree to plead guilty to that for a lesser suspension.
Problem is the rule book doesn’t allow for punishment for past controversy, or failure to cooperate. Which is why it got thrown out. The league decided to be petty, and lost.
I assume you understand only the 4 game suspension was overturned? The Judge did not address the fines and lost draft choices penalties levied against the Pats and Brady.
Since the NFL has appealed the suspension may in fact be reinstituted.
Those were punishments of the team, and Kraft has opted not to fight. He’s probably win if they did.
The suspension won’t be re-instituted. And continuing the fight is just another layer of petty from the league. That’s the biggest thing they’ve lost, not the case, the off season. When we could have been talking about the combine, we were talking about deflated balls. When we could have been talking about free agency, we were talking about deflated balls. When we could have been talking about the draft, we were talking about deflated balls. When we could have been talking about training camp, we were talking about deflated balls. And here we are 4 days from the start of the season, and we’re talking about deflated balls.
That’s the permanent loss for the league. They squandered an off-season of football news for a rule that’s essential a uniform violation.
