Tim Tebow's NFL career was believed to be over before the Philadelphia Eagles signed him this offseason. After a brief reprieve, Philadelphia released the quarterback Saturday, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Philly cut ties with the former Heisman Trophy winner after it shipped quarterback Matt Barkley to the Arizona Cardinals in a trade for a seventh-round draft pick Friday, a deal reported by Schefter (via ESPN.com's Phil Sheridan).
On the heels of that move, it seemed as though Tebow would make the team. He certainly made a strong case for himself in the Eagles' preseason finale by outplaying Barkley significantly, as shown by the NFL's official Twitter account...

Sorry-—make that 2010.
Tebow has said on numerous occasions that he has no interest in the CFL. As the other poster said, it’s not likely his skills would fit what a QB needs in the CFL, anyway.
Maybe he's a CINO
LOL!
Keep telling yourself it’s because of religion,
without explaining the success of Roger Staubach.
Exactly.
Tebow wasn’t tossed because of his faith. He was tossed because he can’t play game at the NFL level.
...well, except for beating the Steelers in the playoffs. Ever see the sports science show on his QB rating...up there wih the top 5 active NFLers...
ymmv
It’s not about feelings. Can you honestly say with a straight face you believe that the NFL, a group whose leaders and many owners are closely aligned with this admin in ideology and through tax concens; A group that went out of it’s way to shove a truly talentless homo on several of it’s own teams...
...has no interest whatsoever in getting a guy like Tebo out of their hair?
You cannot honestly they are some business that is morally above reproach here considering their willingness to keep and resign convicted felons.
Nor can you possibly believe that the years long concentrated effort by left wing sports writers to bring scorn on every team that ever touched the guy had no effect on this. You cannot possibly believe pressure was not brought to bear can you?
We can debate Tebo on his record and merits or lack thereof all day to no conclusive end. But this is not a feelings issue. This is the cold reality of business today when people are arrested, sued, fined, dragged into court and the rest.
I’m sorry. His faith and matters concerning it are not some ‘conspiracy’. they have been front page news for years. The NFL sided with the left and ditched their problem. And people say what? “Oh well several teams...”
Several teams played their part in the drama. Just as the judges and the rest do whenever Barry says jump.
Wasn’t aware he played this decade.
For the life of me I will never understand why the Browns drafted Johnny Manziel — or why Manziel is still on the Browns roster.
For that same reason.
Oh, sorry. Didn’t realize anti-Christian accusations were limited to this century.
You honestly think it was this bad when he played? You don’t think the anti christian crap got just maybe a tad more severe since considering on field prayer was common then and not so much today?
Cuz...it sorta did change by orders of magnitude.
He did that against defensive players that have mostly been cut.
Sanchez is not talented enough for the NFL...FYI
I put 4 games over/under for Bradford
He threw for 189 yards in two quarters...on pace for almost 400 yards...Even tho against second strings he had second string team he was playing with too...Eagles will be 3-1 with Bradford...then he will get hit smash collar bone...Out for Season...6 man fronts against Sanchez...Eagles go 6-10...Congrats Chip
And the two games prior to the Steelers, Tebow was 19 for 51 with three interceptions. He was sacked 33 times during the season and called for 5 delay of game penalties, which indicate he had a hard time reading defenses and reacting to shifts at the line of scrimmage. His passing is inaccurate, his game skills are lacking, he doesn't have what it takes to make it in the NFL.
If they wanted him out of their hair why do they keep signing him?
Out here in reality it’s talent. Many many outspoken Christian players have long solid careers, because they also have the talent.
Actually there’s a very obvious conclusive end to the debate on Tebow’s talent: 5 different NFL coaches have had him in their training camps, including one of the most successful coaches in the history of the game. And none of them have put him higher than 3rd on their depth chart. That is the conclusive end of the debate. He just isn’t very good.
If you want to see what an NFL conspiracy looks like look at Ray Rice. Not in the league, not even brought in for interviews. That’s how the NFL shuns a player, quietly, with no one is watching.
