Around half the Minnesota population lives in the Minneapolis - St. Paul metro area. Not sure any other state is so dominated.
Minnesota also has a distinct socialist heritage from eastern and southern European heritage as well as the German and Scandinavian descendants one normally thinks of in Minnesota.
