This baby girl from Nebraska cant stop fawning over her new friend.
The tots mom, identified only as Ann Maree by KETV 7 in Omaha, shared the completely en-deer-ing video of her daughter, Kate, sweetly chasing a young deer in their backyard on Sunday.
Our neighbor pointed out the fawn to us, it was in the backyard, Ann Maree told the TV station. My daughter who is 15 months, decided to walk toward it.

Close to if not corollarys to each other!
A tick isn’t going to leave a nice warm deer for a human. Ticks move from weeds to animals not so much from live animal to live animal, as fleas will do. If the deer is killed, then yes, as the carcass cools, the ticks will back out of the skin and move from the dead animal to the first warm body that comes along, usually the hunter or the meatcutter.
Animals seem to have a good sense for detecting immature individuals of other species and seldom see them as a threat, though there are exceptions. It is not uncommon for immature animals encountering other immature animals to play together if they are otherwise content and well fed, because they are not yet experienced enough to know about the other species to be afraid or exhibit the fear or tension that might otherwise trigger a defensive attack.
But if an adult human or a dog had approached that fawn, the doe would likely become nervous and call her fawn to her or might even become defensive, especially if the human was afraid for her child’s safety, or the dog too bold. It’s hard to hide those chemical signals we send when we are anxious from animals, especially wild animals, and we never know how the animal will interpret or misinterpret them. This is why if you have any anxiety at all [or too much excitement] when encountering an animal, it is best not to approach them. It is imperative that when dealing with animals that you be alert but very calm. And if you have dogs you need to be aware that their scent is on you and your kids and a deer could detect that and consider you or your kids a threat to their fawns even if you are calm.
Innocent and cute recognized innocent and cute.
Once when my son and his wife and little girl were out crusin the back roads, they came upon a spotted fawn and its mom.
Josh slowly opened the door and edged his little one out and the young un’s got acquainted, while momma just watched.
That little gal grew up to be the best wild kitten, chipmunk, squirrel magnet you ever saw.
But, when she became old enough to hunt and got her license, I said that I thought she liked deer.
Her reply, “ Oh gramma, I like deer. But I LOVE venison”
Where there's deer, there's ticks..they are the worst here in June.
Good post, but best summed up: No one can predict an animals
behavior.
Really! How interesting. Thank you
