CUE POD RACER JOKES …

|| By FITSNEWS || Jake Lloyd – the actor who portrayed Anakin Skywalker in the 1999 Star Wars’ franchise reboot The Phantom Menace – has been arrested in South Carolina after leading authorities on a high speed chase along Interstate 95.

The 26-year-old actor from Fort Collins, Colorado reportedly told police his name was Jake Broadbent.

Officers from the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, the Walterboro Police Department and the Colleton County Sheriff’s Department were involved in the pursuit – during which Lloyd’s vehicle reportedly topped speeds of 100 miles per hour.

The incident ended when Lloyd’s “vehicle ran off the right hand side of the road and drove through a fence and continued driving along a frontage road that ran alongside I-95,” eventually running into some trees.

The actor is currently being held on $10,700 bond in the Colleton County, S.C. detention center after being charged with reckless driving.

Here’s Lloyd’s absolutely badass mug shot …

I wonder if he played the “do you know who I am” card with the cops.

His performance in that movie should have earned him a felony.

He should have been arrested for making that horrible movie.

He was a 10 year old kid who looked like he was eight. If you read the following from Wikipedia, it's clear that the real onus is on Lucas and his parents. Maybe he can start hanging out with Mason Reese, Billy Mumy and Wil Wheaton.

After portraying Anakin in a chain of related video games, Lloyd retired from acting in 2001, citing bullying on the part of classmates and the stress of doing up to 60 interviews a day as his reasons for doing so. Lloyd stated in a 2012 interview that being in The Phantom Menace ruined his childhood and his acting career, and that he destroyed all of his Star Wars memorabilia out of anger toward the film.[6]

When I saw that movie, I figured his qualification was that he was the son of some hollyweird hotshot.

Bill Mumy’s actually had a pretty good career and didn’t fall into the usual child actor traps. Married since 1986 with two kids, and is also a fairly talented musician.

"Yeah, you were the kid in the crappiest Star Wars film ever and ruined the franchise! You suck!"

He probably hears this a lot.

What you said about Billy Mumy.

I think it worth noting that he showed some great depth and sensitivity in his portrayal of Lennier on Babylon 5.

I suppose many people did not realize that it was him with all the makeup. As the show progressed he developed the stronger, sterner side of the Minbari personality.

I do hope they syndicate that show someday.

There’s a great interview on youtube about his being cast. In the beginning it took 4 1/2 hours to do the makeup (down to 2 by the end of the series), and he’d been told 1 hour. But he’d taken the role and stuck it out. He comes across as very professional.

Lennier was one of my favorite characters (there were so many good ones). But Lando and G’Kar started off good and became exceptional.

Regarding Billy Mumy:

It wasn’t really a dig at him. He was a phenomenal child actor and I only knew that he wrote some sci-fi comics and has a small part in the execrable Lost in Space movie.

It was really a beef against kids on space ships or in scifi settings who know more than all the grown-ups put together without even saying “Shazam!”

I threw in Mason Reese because I thought it would be funny.
