Challen Stephens did an excellent job investigating this case. Interesting series and a spot on example of police corruption.

Wow. Looks like a friend who used his personal funds to seek justice for the beaten man was assassinated by that cop.

Upon entering Madison County there is a huge billboard depicting SWAT making a dynamic entry into a residence. Under neath it is captioned,
” WE MAKE HOUSE CALLS”
That is the mentality of the local LE.

At the end of that story the Sheriff says this:
“But Dorning also emphasized that Watson is innocent until found otherwise and talked about the challenges faced by his officers, of having to handle the mentally ill and drug addicted. “It’s the things other people do not want to face.”
He’s dealing with an out of control officer. A murder likely done by his officers. Death threats, beatings, witness intimidation and more; yet he says the above?
Thats one place to stay away from.

Real piece of work. This rabid a-hole needs to be put down.

"But Capt. East followed the chain of command. At some point, he told his boss, Chief Deputy Chris Stephens, about the bar fight and the testimony. He asked for direction. "East states that Stephens just blew it off and did not seem concerned about the incident," writes Berry." How can the Cheif just blow something off like this? When you allow a maniac to continue he just gets worse
