Is our universe FAKE? Physicists claim we could all be the playthings of an advanced civilisation

Physicists say there is a possibility that our world is merely a simulation They claim there may be evidence of this if only we know where to look For instance, some of the laws of physics may not quite add up, they say

The year is 2050 and super-intelligent robots have taken over the planet.

Except you have no idea, because you're living in a computer simulation, depicting what life was like in 2015.

Everything you see and touch right now has been created by robotic overlords who are using humanity as playthings in their virtual game.

That's the radical theory put forward by a number of scientists over the years, who claim there is a possibility that our world as we know it is fake.

He notes that, according to Oxford University philosopher Nick Bostrom, the scenario played out in the film, The Matrix, could be a reality.

But 'instead of having brains in vats that are fed by sensory inputs from a simulator, the brains themselves would also be part of the simulation,' said Bostrom.

'It would be one big computer program simulating everything, including human brains down to neurons and synapses.'

Kuhn also points out how physical laws are sets of computational processes, with patterns in nature revealing an inherent, intentional model.

Marvin Minsky, a founder of artificial intelligence, told Kuhn it would be very difficult to distinguish that you're in a computer simulation.

That is, he says, 'unless the programmer has made some slips — if you notice that some laws of physics aren't quite right, [or] f you find rounding-off errors.'

Several years ago, Silas Beane of the University of Bonn suggested, like Minsky, that there may be signs that we are living in a simulation.

Come to think about it, I cannot think of anything that tells me these Physicists are wrong. History seems to be nothing more than events that keep repeating. different names, different places but same old s*it.

You can pick up any of these at any fine universe store. Klaatu will love for it's birthday.

Makes as much sense as most of what else passes for physics these days - alternate universes, seventeen dimensions, Shjrokinger’s dead-live cat or whatever it is.....

We could also just be one of many marbles in some alien collection. You know that Big Bang you all heard?
That was just us ricocheting off another universe.

We COULD be the result of an experiment by a hugely intelligent civilization.

…But certainly NOT a hugely intelligent GOD.

…You just can’t make this stuff up.

Consider the final scene in the movie Men In Black.

Umm, this is mental masturbation on their part.

It just moves the question back one step to "how did the universe, in which the creators of the simulation exist, come to be?"

Ad infinitum.

One must either come to an unmoved Mover; or to infinite regress.

Secondly, if one wants to play with the multiverse theory (constant formation of instabilities forming pinched off, mutually exclusive bubbles of spacetime, some of which had laws of nature favorable to life, yada yada hand wave jerk)...

the question begged, is, if the very laws of nature are different in each multiverse, what is it, which guarantees, that those laws (presumably deriving from quantum mechanics) which form the basis for the model, hold true in the undefinable region which keeps giving rise to the bubbles?

they needed to tap the brain power of the humans to do the calculations necessary to find a way to get off the planet.

That's an outstanding idea. They could even have found a way to make dreams a part of that scenario.. Maybe they could explain the "I did not finish my school and can't find the class I am supposed to be in" dream, or the "I can't quite reach that thing I am trying to grab, even though it's right in front of me" dream. Maybe those dreams are just part of the space-time travel iterative calculations that do not converge.

So perhaps a re-make is in order where the silliness of the second and third parts of the story are abandoned and the replaced with the second part being about NEO leading the human race to near annihilation of the machines (as promised in the the original), and the third part being that NEO discovers that the machines want to leave earth. Then he has to redirect the efforts of the humans, who have by now been taken over by democrats who want to reinstate the matrix as a utopian paradise, to assist the machines to leave earth and travel the stars as our ambassadors with the promise they will report back if they find any habitable planets.

Well they need to make up things to get more government funding for their “research” and also to sell books, fame etc.
, in other words $$$$ MONEY.

They can’t produce real results in the real world of business so go into government or academia(government funded) and put out wild theories based on movies and science fiction novels and also make up fake threats like global warming.

They are the modern day witch doctors and snake oil salesman and they are laughing all the way to the bank getting millions in grants over their lifetime and some selling millions of books.

Our neighbors have a couple of cats which parade past our patio door on a semiregular basis, and I always think of The Matrix. ... “Didn’t I just see that?”

Or the “I gotta pee real bad dream.” And then you dream you’re peeing. Next thing you know you wake up soaking wet. Yeah the supreme intelligence always gets a laugh out of that one.

Happened to a guy I know.

These liberal jackasses call themselves scientists, PHDs , doctor: they are sitting in their ivory towers and are laughing all they way to the bank. they ‘ve never worked a day in their life but are all rich.once in while they write some paper that they call reports or research where they make up crap like this simulation universe,GLOBAL WARMING, alternate universes, multi dimensions, GLOBAL WARMING ETC. . then they get hug government grants for their "great" research.

While we work for decades having the government take our money to give to these liberal jackasses for writing some bs report.

We shouldn’t blame the physicists. It’s difficult for them to explain their new findings from observations of physical interactions, astronomy and math to non-physicists, and tabloids like the London Daily Mail tend to sensationalize.

The findings are fascinating, in my opinion, and have been in the news for years.

We are each connected to entities in another universe with physics different from materials and interactions of this one, but that doesn’t mean that our universe is “fake.” They also don’t know as to which end is controlling which.
