They Live is a classic, believe it or not. It's still talked about in the movie buff community. I can't believe there weren't any sequels or he didn't get any more big movie parts afterwards.
I enjoyed his movie work, since you could tell he didn't take the whole pretend thing that seriously. I always wondered why he didn't do more.
I came here to chew bubble gum and kick ass....and I’m all out of bubble gum.
Shoot, i still remember Hogan vs Piper in Starcade and Piper vs the NWO as a kid. This sucks. All my wrestling heroes are going and gone.
I'm glad you reminded us about "They Live", one of the greatest John Carpenter Sci-Fi movies ever and a direct precursor to the Matrix.

While obviously anti-consumer and anti-capitalist in its intent, the world has literally caught up with the movie and its message is far more applicable today ...
... Especially "OBEY".
Don’t forget Hell Comes to Frog Town!
A favorite movie.
“Having had a heart attack, it wasn’t peaceful. It hurts like Original Sin, and I didn’t even have a bad one, I’m told.”
It could be that his heart simply stopped and rendered him immediately unconscious. It does happen. John Unitas died in the exact same way.
Dangit ... 61 ????? ... I’ve met him numerous times (about 10-12 years ago), I thought he was 60+ then... had no idea he was my age. High mileage, he definitely squeezed every drop out of life, he was a dynamo ... non-stop, big smile and a new plan or deal with every step he took.
RIP kilted one, you were “One of a Kind”
Went to go see RRP in person at the Shrine in downtown LA a couple of times. The wrestling scene [of which
I am not one] is quite a spectacle!
ROFL!!! No sarcasm tag needed there, every wrestling fan worth their salt knows how much Piper really and truly hated Hulk Hogan!
I went to a local INDY Wrestling show about 5 years ago, Roddy Piper was one of the "guests" at the show. The indy wrestling promoter handed Piper a microphone and in no time flat he was bad mouthing Hogan. He was a huge fan of Rick Flair's himself.
The entire time he was stumbling around the ring and he sure sounded like he was drunk. It was a fun 30 minutes or so as he broke bad on the people he hated in the Wrestling biz.
The surprise of that night was that Freebird Buddy Roberts was also in attendance. A lot of folks recognized him. He was very generous with his time signing autographs and talking to people. He was a true gentleman who appreciated the fans as much as they did him. Class act.
I loved that movie! Sometimes, I think if I only had those sunglasses, I’d figure out what’s really going on.
Didn’t he slap the crap outta Andy Kaufman?
No that was Jerry Lawler
Hated the ending of that movie!
RIP Roddy Piper.
See tagline...
