Driving home today I got lost and made a wrong turn. In an unfamiliar area I drove slowly but made the mistake of not seeing a poorly marked one way. I stopped midway through entering it when I realized I screwed up and fortunately there were no close calls or potential accidents. Only a single oncoming car (not the medford cop/detective in the video, he was on the other side) that had fully stopped before the road seeing my stupid mistake. After I stopped and realized it was too late I just continued out of the way and back onto the correct road in front of me. This man starts tailgating me and puts his high beams on in his Red Chevy Silverado pick up truck. He then yells how I'm an asshole and that he is going to hurt me, and well the rest is in the video.
The date is incorrect as my dashcam apparently was set wrong. I very rarely ever need to pull videos off of it over the period of time I've owned it and just didn't notice the date mistake. The time however is right.
I also never gave my address to him, he found it by running my plates/license so him saying I'm not registered is false. I have had that info updated since I moved.

Anyone think this guy can get out of his traffic ticket?
To: Citizen Zed
I think it’s Massachusetts, since Boston is mentioned? Is that correct.

So now the detectives want to get in on all the fun the uniforms are having?

Yeah it’s MA. I don’t think a plainclothes cop in an unmarked car in a shall issue state would dare behave like that.
To: Citizen Zed
If the camera wasn’t confiscated, then he absolutely should get out of it. The guy was off duty, and was acting like a maniac. If the driver were to press charges, the city might settle for a small amount under the table.
1. This is why more people are using dashcams.
2. This is why so many people don’t trust police.

Medford is about 10 miles outside of Boston.
To: grania

There used to be a one way street in a town near Boston where people used to line up to make a left turn onto a one-way street (when free of oncoming traffic) to go halfway down a block and turn into the back of a shopping center. No big deal. Traffic in the whole place can only have gotten worse.

What ticket?
Out of control off duty detective should get fined/fired for outrageous road rage incident, for attempting to abuse his authority against a citizen, for a traffic violation, under color of law.

The cop was reckless, his behavior will get him killed eventually.Imagine what would have happened to him if the guy he stopped in the video had felony warrants.

No, but many towns will rubber-stamp concealed-carry permits without fuss, while in others (Boston for example) you literally cannot get a permit to save your life...There are definitely enough people carrying in MA (paired with pervasive A-hole attitudes) that I wouldn't recommend leaping out of a pickup truck in plain-clothes (at night) and threatening to kill someone. How on earth was the guy supposed to recognize that the detective was a cop, and not just some angry drunk?
Getting this detective behind a desk for the rest of his career would honestly be the safest thing for the citizens AND the cop.

Not in uniform. Pulled a gun before identifying himself.
Looked like a car jacking. I’d have dropped him.
This POS thugcop needs to e fired and should do some time.
