BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) More than 60 classic cars were on display Saturday, for the annual Pierce-Arrow Society National Meet.
Owners of the classic automobiles traveled from as far as California to participate in the event.
Over 10,000 guests turned out to get a glimpse of the vintage antiques.
Made in Buffalo, Pierce-Arrow vehicles played a big role in the automobile industry. Founder of Pierce-Arrow Museum, James Sandoro told News 4, Pierce was a leader

Like a Tesla, but with a real engine.
Roscoe Conkling "Fatty" Arbuckle (March 24, 1887 June 29, 1933)
was an American silent film actor, comedian, director, and screenwriter
Neat models! But it is a bit of an anachronism since Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow were done-in by Frank Hamer’s special group in 1934.
I got an FJ Cruiser, just to look a little different.
To get the fuel economy they need, they all need an aerodynamic body that fits 4 or 5 adults, plus meet all the current safety regulations. The design space gets small when you do that.
Poor Roscoe - he got bad deal!
I was going to say they did not use a PA.
They were famous for writing to Ford praising his V8 models.
You are correct.
Very “regulated” into ugly boring discomfort.
No, none of these modern teardrops equals the old Lincoln especially on a long driving vacation. Just got back from one last week with a Camry. It’s OK, but they are not nearly as comfortable (nor capable of handling all the vacation issues).
Lol! You're right! May 23, 1934. Had to look it up.
More like a Bentley. A real car, not those cramped useless speed cars.
FedGov mandated mileage and safety regs will do that. They need extremely low drag coefficients and high crash protection, so all the makers converge on the same aerodynamic and crush-zone solution. It’s a real shame.mone more miserable effect of big brother.
However, I DO like the fact that today’s cars will frequently have driver and passenger walk away from crashes that would have killed everybody sixty years ago.
Had a Mach 1 just like that - same color.
Add those safety precautions into the old car designs and they would have much better survivability than the econoboxes.
As I stated, they were famous for the V8.
I think that is the reason many people like the bigger SUVs. They give one more room, and the seating is more like these classic cars.
That is exactly what I've been thinking. To compete with each other on gas mileage, they're all morphing to the same basic fuel-optimized, computerized wind-tunnel-tested 'perfect' body design. Sad, really. Reminds me of an episode of the Twilight Zone where young people have a choice between TWO 'perfect' human body styles.
The episode was titled: "Number 12 Looks Just Like You"
Perhaps to feel better about the monotonous new car designs, we just need to down a glass of "instant smile".

"In a future society, all young adults go through a process known as "the Transformation," in which each person's body and face are changed to mimic a physically attractive design chosen from a small selection of numbered models. The process gives everyone a beautiful appearance, slows deterioration due to age and extends a person's lifespan, and makes the recipient immune to any kind of disease.
The motive of the Transformation is social harmony. According to Professor Sig, a psychologist with the Transformation service, "Years before, wiser men than I . . . saw that physical unattractiveness was one of the factors that made men hate, so they charged the finest scientific minds with the task of eliminating ugliness in mankind."
Eighteen-year-old Marilyn Cuberle decides not to undergo the Transformation, seeing nothing wrong with her unaltered appearance. Nobody else can understand Marilyn's decision, and those around her are confused by her displeasure with the conformity and shallowness of contemporary life. Her "radical" beliefs were fostered by her now-deceased father, who gave Marilyn banned books and came to regret his own Transformation years earlier, committing suicide upon the loss of his identity.
When Marilyn becomes upset, talking about how the transformation makes everyone beautiful and therefore the same as everyone being ugly, they offer her a glass of "Instant Smile".
Despite continued urging from family, doctors, and her best friend, Marilyn is still adamant about refusing the operation. She insists that the leaders of society don't care whether people are beautiful or not, they just want everyone to be the same. Her pleas about the "dignity of the individual human spirit" and how "when everyone is beautiful, no one will be" have no impact. After being driven to tears by the inability of anyone to understand how she feels, she is put through the procedure and (like all the others) is enchanted with the beautiful result.
Dr. Rex, who operated on Marilyn, comments about how some people have problems with the idea of the Transformation but that "improvements" to the procedure now guarantee a positive result, thus indicating that there may be modifications made to the mind as well. Marilyn reappears, looking and thinking exactly like her best friend Valerie. "And the nicest part of all, Val," she gushes, "I look just like you!" The last shots are of her, admiring herself in the mirror and smiling."--Wikipedia
They look good in that first photo. Too bad for their victims it didn’t come sooner.
Aerodynamics tend to lead to similar shapes. Look at modern commercial aircraft. And even private aircraft tend to be limited in design.
As for The Twilight Zone, I remember that episode. Used to watch the Thanksgiving marathons on the local LA channel when I was in college.
