Bison are considered the second most dangerous of North American animals. (Grizzly bears being the most dangerous and cougars being the third) Was that a Gallup Poll? (or a Gallop Poll) ;)

As a teenager in the 60’s two friends and I went to Yellowstone on our Yamaha 100cc Twin motorcycles. We had been told the bears wouldn’t bother us because they were afraid of motorcycles.
Uhhh...not so much. It’s a good thing we were teenagers and immortal otherwise we would have been bear food.

Do not get too close to wildlife, especially when significantly bigger than you are.
Good advice anytime.
Wild animals are UNPREDICTABLE and they don't have anything like the #1 and #2 of the three laws of robotics.

Park rules say people should stay at least 75ft (23m) away from the bison. The massive beasts can weigh more than 2,000 pounds (900kg) and can move extremely quickly...and the avg. bison is five foot high at the shoulders with some at six foot. The largest bison , raised for meat have weighed in over 3000 lbs.
There's a youtube video of a Yellowstone bison attacking a car. Most notable is the size of the bison, which straddles the lane with hind hoofs right on the edge of the road and head at the center line.

Silly folk most likely didn't notice the spring calves present. Enough to send any member of the herd into a fit, much less one that is as close as the other side of the living room. Guess that wooly head makes them look cute.

Natural selection is Darwins most famous theory; it states that evolutionary change comes through the production of variation in each generation and differential survival of individuals with different combinations of these variable characters. Individuals with characteristics which increase their probability of survival will have more opportunities to reproduce and their offspring will also benefit from the heritable, advantageous character. So over time these variants will spread through the population.

Actually, the signs are posted in multiple languages with graphics. One would think that warning signs and a smidgen of common sense would be all that's needed. Wrong.
