The mythical secret menu at McDonalds may not be a myth at all.
According to a McDonalds manager who conducted a recent Reddit AMA, customers can in fact order secret menu items, but the items really arent that secret.
Reddit user OrchidHibiscus, who claims to be a manager at a McDonalds in Glasgow, Scotland, said McDonalds didnt specifically develop a secret menu, but menu items can be customized into grill orders.
Customers can add or take out ingredients from current menu items to make them into what they wantincluding something off a so-called secret menu.
"Order one and the workers might not know it by name ... but if you explain what it is, and are willing to pay for all the ingredients, it's just another 'grill order' that we can make up," OrchidHibiscus wrote.
The user referred to rumored secret menu items like the Land, Sea and Air Burger, which is a combination of a Big Mac, Filet-O-Fish and McChicken.
A website called #HackTheMenu claims to have a list of secret menu items from McDonald's, including an All American, a Big McChicken, Biscuits and Gravy, and a Chicken McGriddle.
McDonalds addresses the possibility of a secret menu on its website saying, We have no secret menu or do we?
Actually, our customers are pretty clever when it comes to customizing their orders with our menu items, so you may have seen some of their creations online, the company wrote. But we have no official secret menu of our own.
Pickle milkshakes?
I know you thought you were kidding ~but~ Behold!
The Haggis Burger!
Two all sheep stomachs, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun!
Also, in Scotland, the dollar menu is considered the expensive part.
The Caledonian Cupboard in my home is never out of Kippers.
It’s a staple right up there with bacon.
Buttered Rye toast with warm kippers and over easy (or poached) egg on top.
I can feel it coming on as I type.
For breakfast I order a crispy chicken on toasted muffin with folded egg, cheese, tomato slice, mayo, s&p. YUM!
Twoallsheepstomachsspecialsaucelettucecheesepicklesonionsonasesameseedbun! (needs to be said really fast)
The MacAllan’s Mcflurry?
You mean people can “have it their way?”
(Can’t help myself. I worked at BK in 1976.)
I worked at McDonald’s for a short time in 1970 and a big evening request from customers was a grilled cheese sandwich, two slices of cheese on an inverted bun, toasted on the bun grill.
Cracker Barrel has a secret item, Grandma’s Breakfast... pancakes, 3 diff types of meat, hash browns etc. Not on menu but they’ll make it if you ask
>>After I had ordered the Mommas Pancake Breakfast, I mentioned out loud to my wife that I wish it came with the hashbrown casserole as that sounded delicious. The waitress overheard me and mentioned that the Grandmas Pancake Breakfast, which is not on the menu, came with everything I got with the Mommas Pancake Breakfast plus a side of hashbrown casserole. Leave it to grandma to outdo mom by throwing in that little extra something. To top it off got a small side of Sawmill Gravy to throw on the biscuits. Yum!
‘Have it your way’ all over again . . ?
If I wanted a made to order meal, not sure I’d pull into a McDonald’s.
My general rule of thumb is if the food isn’t served on a real plate, I don’t eat there. I do make exceptions for good deli sandwiches.
I stopped at a McDonald’s once for breakfast and remarked that I only wanted scrambled eggs. “Sure!” the order taker said. So even though scrambled eggs are not listed on their menu, I’ve been getting them with a yogurt parfait for breakfast for years now.
