Not long ago you could bank on the Old Course bringing out the best in Tiger Woods.
This was something else entirely.
On Thursday at the 144th British Open, Woods added a new chapter to his Season of Misery, a grisly four-over 76 that left him 11 shots behind clubhouse leader Dustin Johnson with the afternoon tee times still on the course. It was a shocking result at a revered track he once dominated while winning St. Andrews Opens in 2000 and 2005.

He won’t catch Jack for most major titles. His career is done.
Why the continuing focus on a washed up golfer that lusted after porn star prostitutes and gave his wife several STDs in the process. But, but, he was such a good father.
I think he’s hobbled by injuries.
Doesn’t he have a completely artificial back already?
Maybe he can tee it up with Duval and Daly and just reminisce.
I saw him duff a couple shots that the typical amateur would rarely make. He’s simply in a terrible place mentally. His changes in his swing shouldn’t even affect basic short shots from the fairway like one of the ones I saw.
For now, he still makes it rain money for the media and the sponsors.
They’ll be touting his “making a comeback” until they unplug his ventilator at the age of 97.
There’s a ton of young and classy talent on the tour these days. Unfortunate that Rory hurt himself.
Along with knees and perhaps hips.
Tough front 9. Even par on back 9. Looks like the cut will be around even par or +1 tomorrow. Maybe he will rally - maybe not. Nice to see Phil finish under par!
I think this table of career statistics year by year does make it look like he’s done.

I would be surprised if Tiger wins any tournament.
He is tied with 65 year old Tom Watson at the old course.
Tiger, meet fork.
The front 9 played easy today. There was at least one 29. Even par on the back is a decent score.
The player who shot 29 on the front, shot 40 on the back.
If I shot a 76 at st Andrews i would be ecstatic.
Meanwhile, Jordan Spieth is only one shot off the lead and very much in the hunt for a legitimate Grand Slam - not the phony "Calendar Grand Slam" the wonderful Tiger, Tiger, Tiger got.
Yeah, no kidding. And he also brought out the worst fans I’ve ever seen at a tournament. Another advantage of his fall from grace, got the riff raff off the Tour.
He had a morning tee time today....normally of the Thursday Friday rounds....you need to take advantage of your am tee time day. Tomorrow he has the afternoon tee time, and that’s normally much windier and tougher conditions.
Probably right....I came to that conclusion last year....after thinking for years he probably would catch him.
