Very recently my Office 2013 software generates a message stating my software has not been activated and features have been disabled.

I have been a marginally happy PAYING Office customer for YEARS/

I have NO idea what my MS account log in is. I *NEVER* contact them.

I logged in to MS to get the issue resolved and they wanted to charge me $42 to fix the problem!!!

HOW do I get this fixed without paying ransom to MS?

Apparently Gates thinks that Cryptolocker was a pretty good idea.

Can’t help you with that, but I can tell you that it will be a COLD day in hell before I ever upgrade past Office 2010. They are doing their to push everyone towards internet based software and subscription service.

I am slowly but surely changing over to Open Office for everything I do. Can’t wait till the day I can tell big M adios!

Do not call any numbers that come up on your screen, ever. Do not log into a website like MS unless it is https://microsoft.com (with the S in HTTPS).

Smells of a scam but may be related to the Windows 10 roll out. If you are singed up to get it July 29th MS may already have been pushing components to your machine. That >may< affect your office settings.

I’m betting scam though.

I had something similar happen to me. If you change the bios on your computer or the configuration of your computer gets changed some other way, Microsoft thinks the software has been installed on a different computer. You have to uninstall and reinstall it. Hopefully you still have the CD box and activation number.

You might try one of the freeware software programs that recovers software registration keys to find your Office registration.

You probably reinstalled some part of Office too many times. Just call microsoft help line and they will walk you through resetting it once they verify your license. It takes a few minutes. There has never been a charge for this in the past.

See if you qualify.

Office Professional 2013 – Buy the DVD for about $30 w/tax instead of the download which you cannot save.
This version is the full version.
http://www.microsofthup.com/hupus/home.aspx?culture=en-US

There is no additional charge as the store bought one rents for $99 a year.

Go to office.live.com and try to log in. Say you have forgotten your password, etc and see if you can trigger a memory.
