I haven't seen Travis Mcgee for a while. His last post on FR was on 6/15, and his (Matt Bracken's) last Facebook posting was the same day.
Anyone know the story?
I just re-read Castigo Cay. I have read the EFAD trilogy twice now as well. I hope he is writing a new book, or sailing in the Caribbean.
Wow. A guy cannot take some time off without checking in with FR? And some of you are whining about it.
And I am the wuss?
Yeah, that’s about right.
I won’t ask, and you guys don’t have to tell.
Yeah I’m one of those guys that knows a little about everything and a lot about nothing....:o)
Specialization is for insects. I’m landlocked now shy of a couple trips a year.
He’s on his boat
Don’t blame him a bit.
Glad everything is good.
Better that than a Sandia PHD I knew. I told him once "There's folks who know a lot about one thing and nothing about everything else. When we find out what it is you know a lot about, you'll be one of those guys."
hes working his way up the east coast
He told my oldest boy and I about 3 weeks ago that he’d be MIA a while
He’s extremely offshore capable and if there was an issue we’d have heard from his wife
It’s fun to drop out
I just did a wee bit
My enemies were distraught
It was touching
LOL, you’ve left a large impression, apparently.
No pretense in EOD.... ya don’t know ya better say so ....:o)
Up to our ass in bell curve engineers over here as well. Pile it Higher and Deeper (PHD) here means don’t let em near ANYTHING without close supervision.
Hope yer well Buddy.....
Stay Safe !!

Never mind that is Bobby McGee....
Doing good, going to try some Cowboy action shooting. I got an El Paso Saddelry 2 gun rig in trade for some 16 gauge stuff, so I had to go find a pair of Ruger New Vaqueros. Traded more stuff I wasn’t using at Ron’s for a set and tried them today.
How can you miss a steel 2 foot high chile pepper target at 15 feet? I managed it trying to shoot gunfighter style.
I’m friends of Evil Roy ....his family is down in Plainview. He’s up in Durango CO but he may share some tips with ya....:o)
New Kimber Stainless Target II in 10mm and a Pre 64 Winchester Model 70 Featherweight in .243 were added to my Harem......The 243 was Grampa’s, then my Dad’s who handed it down to me.
Mod those Vaqueros with reversible pawls for faster and easier loading. Brownnells has em.
El Paso Saddlery .... I have a original Tom Threepersons holster my Grandfather bought from him in the 30’s . El Paso Saddlery makes a great copy of Tom Threepersons holsters.
To hot to shoot here this week.... 104 plus to the weather guesser.
Stay Safe !!

Press secretary for presidential candidate Alan Keyes
I’m good on getting advice, the couple that run the Founder’s Ranch sporting clays range are SASS #51 and 691. Good shooters in the early days when targets were at 25 yards not in your face. I help them with shotgun noobs.
Other than the Vaqueros, I haven’t been on a buying run lately.
That model 70 sounds super sweet. Great caliber, great gun, and a family gun at that.
Stay Safe too.
Yeah Grampa had a way of teaching us to shoot....you miss your out. Makes one young shooter very mad to watch his cousins keep shooting...... We all got a box of 20 reloads. If ya missed...ya had to give your ammo to one of your cousins...... It took a while but in the end I was taking their ammo more than giving mine away......:o)
Matt is sailing on the Chesapeake Bay all summer, with his son and without the internet, by design.
Thank you. I maybe shouldn’t have started this thread ... opinions vary ... He is important as an author and commentator, and I admire and respect him and his work. I don’t want to intrude on private matters, but I just wanted to know he is all right. Sounds like he is more than all right, and that is good to know.
